A funny story.
Note: This is not the basilica, people mistake this church to the church in Panaji where St. Francis Xavier body is present.
Funny story, read it for a chuckle 😝:
So I had never visited the church where St. Francis Xavier body is present, that historical one. So this time when we visited Goa, I asked my wife let's visit that church, as she had already known the place.
It was afternoon, and we just finished our lunch somewhere around Anjuna beach. Before starting I asked my wife what's that church name and how far is it, she replies, it called Bom Jesus church and then goes on to say it's about 40 min(14 km) from where we are. I asked her to show the map, and at a glance, it looked very interior to the beach and far from the central city.
I humorously asked, why would Francis Xavier be resting in such interior place? She replied that saints went around for preaching and he might have died there. I believed her and went along on our Activa.
So when we were about 3-4 km to that destination, we were in the interior of Goa, away from the tourist hustle and it was really beautiful. Very picturesque, rural setting with few houses and I loved it. It reminded me of Mangalore (I am from Mangalore).
When we were about 500 meters from the destination, my wife realized this is not the place, and I could sense it. After we reached, I realized we came to the wrong church as the whole place was empty. I burst out laughing, and the look on my wife's face was priceless. Nonetheless, the drive was excellent and something different from usual Goa tourist places.
P.S. I would recommend this just for...
