Nature, Science & Spirituality All in One Place! Netravali Bubbling Lake is a fascinating and peaceful destination tucked away in South Goa’s Netravali Wildlife Sanctuary. The lake is known for a curious natural phenomenon where bubbles rise from the lakebed — especially when you clap or make noise. It’s a fun, interactive experience and a great way to connect with nature.
Right beside the lake is the ancient Lord Gopinath Temple, a serene and well-maintained shrine dedicated to Lord Krishna. The temple’s traditional Goan architecture and tranquil surroundings offer a beautiful spiritual contrast to the scientific wonder of the lake. It’s a great spot to slow down, reflect, or just enjoy the peaceful vibes.
The area is surrounded by dense greenery and offers a refreshing break from the typical Goa crowd. Whether you're a nature lover, spiritual seeker, or just someone looking for something different, this spot is definitely worth the trip. The drive through rural Goa is scenic, and the overall experience is calm and rejuvenating.
🧭 Tip: Bring water, light snacks, and a camera — but most importantly, please don’t litter. It’s a fragile natural environment and deserves to be respected and kept clean for others to enjoy. Carry your waste back with you and leave the place better than you found it.

First off we visited here in Monsoon and I love South Goa in monsoon. We hired a car and driver from Agonda. It took us an hour to reach the place but the entire journey was ecstatic! As soon as we entered the wild life sanctuary, we met numerous waterfalls and streams running off from the mountains. We halted a couple of times to take pictures. After a little while we entered the ghats with its beautiful curvy roads and turns.
Soon the car took a wide turn and I almost lost my breath for a while looking at the view before me. We were into clouds facing a valley and lush green rain washed mountains. It's hard to describe in words but for a moment it filled me with immense joy. The pictures and videos I have shared don't capture even a nugget of it.
Once we reached the Temple I realized how immense the premise is. There are downwards steps to reach the temple and then lake. Lake may seem covered in algae in pictures but the water was crystal clear with tiny beautiful fishes.
Water continuously bubbles from several spots in the lake. I felt making loud sounds definitely increased the bubbling activity. Which is quite amusing!
We were the only visitors and the entire place was deserted. It felt really calm and magical. If you visit Agonda or anywhere in South Goa this place is a...
Read moreWe were a bit skeptical at first about the “bubbling” part, but to our surprise — yes, it actually bubbles! Every time we clapped or made some noise near the water, small bubbles would rise to the surface. It was such a simple yet fascinating natural phenomenon and made the visit truly unique.
That said, we visited in July (monsoon season), and the entire area from the parking lot to the lake was covered in algae and extremely slippery. We slipped more than once, so this is definitely a caution point for anyone visiting during or just after the rains. Do wear shoes with good grip.
The surroundings are lush and scenic, with the peaceful forest vibe all around. It’s a great one-time experience — not something we’d visit again, but surely worth doing once.
📵 Important Tip: This area is a complete network blackout zone for nearly 10 km in all directions. Make sure to download offline maps in advance so you can navigate to and from the place safely.
