Shri Vijayadurga Temple — Attraction in Goa

This is one of the old,most sacred temple of Goa. The architecture is beautiful and quite big. This temple may be some 500 years old. The kulavees of Sri Vijayadurga is spread across the three districts of coastal Karnataka. Though, we visited this temple we never had an opportunity to stay there and to have the Prasad bhojan here. So I don't know much about rooms and the food they serve here. On the way to this place from Mardol, I saw many hoardings on the roadside stating that this a heritage village. To tell you frankly, I don't much about this village. Some one told me that the RIVER MAHADAYEE which is the bone of contention between the states of Karnataka and Goa is flowing nearby. I didn't have a chance to have a look at the river. But, one thing I mention here is that this place is covered with lush green forest right from Mardol to here. My feeling is that the people living here must be very lucky because the area is covered by greenery,pollution free atmosphere, a river is flowing in the close vicinity and Sri Vijayadurga is...

The peace at this temple is unparalled, its located in a village and is connected with a proper road. The location has forests on al sides. We happened to visit on the day of Shivratri and Pujari Jis were busy in preparations, they were making eleborate rangolis, something i have never witnesses in temples of North India. The entire approach of the Pujaris was so dedicated and pure. A natural pond - lake is present adjacent to the temple, its soooooo beautiful, one cannot describe in words the peace, solitude and beaty of this water body with lotus, birds and coconut trees. A hidden gem in the deep in the interiors of ponda in a village called keri , this temple has some really beautiful architecture as well as peaceful feel to it. Right from the artistic Tulsi pedestal installed at the entrance along with some creative entrance theme you get to enter the temple.
