I stayed in this natural education camp for three days. I had a lot of fun in these days Many wild animals were seen. The guide there gave me all the information in these three days. All the information about how many snakes there are in Gujarat and how many are poisonous and how many are non-poisonous.Campfires are strictly prohibited here at night as this is a forest area and fires can break out at any time. A lot of things like going for morning walk every morning and not using mobile made it a memorable trip. I am very thankful to the staff there.

Surrounded by rainfed arid land from all sides, this small wildlife sanctuary of Hingolgadh is a preferred habitat for Chinkara, blue bull and a very large number of resident and migratory birds. This sanctuary has a special ecological significance as the dry deciduous thorny forests and savannah type grasslands merge here. It plays a crucial role in the ground water conservation by recharging aquifers in the region. Declared as a sanctuary in 1980, the area has a high educational and recreational value. The sanctuary is managed by Gujarat Ecological Education and Research (GEER) Foundation. Around 50-100 Nature Education Camps are organised by the Foundation every year during the monsoon season. The participants are generally school children. The green lush patch of Hingolgadh sanctuary stands in stark contrast with the arid zone of neighboring areas of Saurashtra. Dry, deciduous scrub forest along with undulating verdant hills create a ubiquitous manifestation of nature’s glory.

The Hingolgadh Nature Education Sanctuary is a small but significant wildlife sanctuary located near rajkot city. It is surrounded by arid land on all sides, making it a preferred habitat for a variety of animals, including Chinkara, blue bull, and many resident and migratory bird species. This sanctuary was declared a reserved forest area in 1980, covering an area of 654 square kilometers.

It is a verdant oasis amidst the otherwise dry and barren landscape, with a green cover that appears during the monsoon season. The sanctuary's educational and recreational value is high, making it a popular destination for visitors. Managed by the Gujarat Ecological Education and Research (GEER) Foundation, the sanctuary hosts around 50-100 Nature Education Camps every year during the monsoon season. These camps are primarily designed for school children to educate them about the importance of wildlife conservation and the ecosystem. The sanctuary also offers several opportunities for nature walks and trekking, allowing visitors to immerse themselves in the beauty of nature.

The Hingolgadh Nature Education Sanctuary also has historical significance, with several ancient temples and monuments located within its boundaries. One of the prominent attractions is the Hingolgarh Fort, which dates back to the 15th century. The fort offers a panoramic view of the surrounding landscape and is a popular spot for photography. Overall, the Hingolgadh Nature Education Sanctuary is a must-visit destination for nature enthusiasts and wildlife lovers. Its unique ecosystem and educational value make it an important site for conservation efforts. Visitors can explore the sanctuary's natural beauty, spot a variety of wildlife, and learn about the importance of preserving the...

Beautiful place for bird lovers and a place worth taking your school going childrens....... per person entry fees is Rs 50 and with Camera fees it is Rs 250, a bit expensive as per my opinion but worth it. A central area with ample parking space and a toilet is available. Camping options available good for nature study camps. Hub of rare birds like Asian paradise flycatcher, indian pita, a few varieties of Cukoos. It is much like undisturbed preserved natural habitat for birds so approach with care and concern for nature especially by not touching the bird nests and chicklings. An interpretation centre is there near the ranger office. Area is controlled by state government...

Very pristine scrub jungle. Amazing wildlife sanctuary with good nature education activities carried out almost throughout the year. Campsite is very good. The information placards are fixed throughout the trail where people can get to know many things about nature and wildlife. You can spot many birds like Indian pitta, woodpeckers, quails, doves, prinias etc. You can spot Indian gazelle, snakes, skinks also. Must visit place for nature lovers. And also kudos to forest department and GEER foundation who manages this place amazingly well. Loved it. If you want to attend nature education camp you can contact GEER foundation,...
