Munsari lake is just 66 kms from Ahmedabad on sanad viramgam highway.Google shows the way.Only traffic is heavy and too many bumps up to sanand and bit thereafter. Once you reach the place have a 360* view and decide for yourself where and how you are going to your the lake, temples and small 'deris' ie mini temples all around the lake and 2 to 3 big temple structures. Do not take note of the garbage, filth, plastic and other waste littered around. FOCUS only on the sculptures, temples, designs, build techniques, stone cutting and placing and all what you have come to see. Self postponed my trip to Patdi and spent good 3 hours seeing around the lake, temples and talking to local folks who had interesting stories to tell of this place. One is this place built overnight by spells of demons and deities by Queen Minaldevi. Trying to attach relevant photos. Informed administration is taking steps to renovate this place. How fast ..only time will tell. Open sunset to sunrise. No fees for parking or visiting.no guides.no public convenience facilities around lake. All such amenities on highway which is just 1 to 2 kms.So be prepared when you come to visit this place. Take no note of buffalos in lake, locals washing clothes, crematorium near lake, lot of unauthorized structure very near or just adjacent to lake and temple. Eye the fish as Arjun does in Hindu mythology then you explore this...
Read moreThis lake was built during 1090 and 220-yard round shaped. It's shaped like a conch and temples. Gathering from the west, the water passes into a stone-built eightsided silt-well, kund, with, in a niche in each side, a figure cut in bold relief. From the silt-well, through a stone-lined channel and a three-cylinder tunnel, the water passes into the lake.[1] There is a temple of Munsari (also known as Mansar ) mata built by Marathas. This lake is surrounded by huge carved stone and more than 300 small and big temples (shrine). In each shrine on one side of the lake is a pedestal, probably for an image of Krishna, and on the other side a round basin, jaladhar, probably sacred to Shiva. On either side of one of the roadways that runs to the water's edge, is a larger temple with a double porch and spire and across the lake is a flat roofed...
Read moreSuch a beautiful place located in gujrat somewhere near sanand, i just went here in the evening (as my driver insisted to go). It was such a great experience as when i entered there was a small devi temple right in the starting. When you go around the temple you will be able to see this very beautiful lake and such a peaceful atmosphere all around. But what's important was the beauty of the place and how culturally rich the place was. There were so many shrines all around the lake and one main temple right on the opposite side of the lake. The locals have spoiled the place with litter but i ll still give 5 star to promote tourism here and hopefully govt clean it maybe because...
