Swaminarayan temples world over are beautifully carved and built, always well maintained, clean and a delight to visit. The Nilkanth Dham Swaminarayan complex situated on the bank of River Narmada at Poicha Village is no exception. It is a large temple complex said to have more than 1000 idols of different deities. In addition to Bhagwan Shri Swaminarayan the other main attractions are Lord Vishnu, Lord Ganesha, Lord Hanuman, Vishnu avatar darshan, 108 Gaumukh etc. The evening aarti of Bhagwan Shri Swaminarayan is a divine spiritual experience. The positive vibes here really energises you. This pilgrimage centre is a great fusion of spirituality and science as alongwith the beautiful temples there also is a science city. The variety of food served at this temple complex is of very good quality and reasonably priced. From the temple, one can see across the river, the other important religious centres of Chandod Triveni Sangam and Kuber Bhandari Shiva Temple. This is a Hindu temple situated on the banks of River Narmada, outside the city of Vadodara. The temple has a brilliant architecture along with an extremely calm and serene environment. One can easily spend 3-4 hours here, as it has ample sitting area, a food court with huge variety of snacks and lunch/dinner items, ice cream etc. I would recommend vising in the evening, as that will give two benefits : 1. You get to enjoy the beautiful sunset over River Narmada. 2. You also get to attend the evening procession which involves horses and elephants as well.
Do not indulge in the exhibition area as it is not really interesting and requires a lot of walking around. This temple is located in a remote area but lives to the expectations of every swaminarayan Temple. Neat, clean and picturesque. A good weekend getaway with parks, eateries and inner peace. Avoid peak hours if you do not like crowd. Ample parking space as well. The presence of a river adds...
