Nilkanth Dham in Poicha is a stunning temple complex that stands as a testament to the rich spiritual and cultural heritage of India. This sacred place is dedicated to Lord Swaminarayan, a revered saint and spiritual leader whose teachings have deeply influenced millions of devotees. The temple was constructed to commemorate the life and journey of Nilkanth Varni, the younger form of Lord Swaminarayan, who traveled extensively through India, spreading his message of devotion, morality, and service to humanity. Historically, the temple complex is significant for its representation of the Swaminarayan tradition, which emphasizes purity of heart and mind through devotion. The grand architecture reflects traditional Indian temple designs, with detailed carvings, colorful sculptures, and beautifully designed domes that capture the eye of every visitor. The attention to detail in the artwork tells stories from the scriptures, depicting various episodes from the life of Lord Swaminarayan and other Hindu deities, creating a deeply immersive spiritual experience. The temple grounds are expansive and include several key attractions, such as the Nilkanth Varni Murti and replicas of major pilgrimage sites in India, like Kedarnath and Rameshwaram, providing a miniature pilgrimage experience for those who cannot travel to these distant locations. The temple also features a mesmerizing musical fountain show and offers a tranquil environment with its well-maintained gardens, water bodies, and meditation spaces. The historical significance of Nilkanth Dham extends beyond its architecture. It stands as a beacon of faith, uniting devotees from across the world who come to experience the divine presence and connect with the teachings of Lord Swaminarayan. Visitors can participate in the daily rituals, including the evening aarti, which is a spiritually uplifting experience with melodious chanting and traditional offerings to the deity. Overall, Nilkanth Dham in Poicha is a must-visit for anyone interested in Indian history, spirituality, and architecture. It not only offers a peaceful retreat but also connects visitors to a deep-rooted spiritual legacy that continues to inspire millions.

It a very nice place to visit. The temple of Lord Swaminarayan is here and is very nicely built on the banks of the river Mata Narmada. During the monsoon season, there is a very nice view of the temple and the river as there is water in the river Narmada. The temple is also very nicely built. Cleaning is also well maintained. There are also canteens here for breakfast. And we get khichdi for dinner, which is the best. The sight of Lord Swaminarayan emerging on an elephant at four o'clock in the evening is also cool.Parking facility is also available and bathroom facility is also available. This place must be visited once.

This temple built on the banks of river Narmada gives an immense calmness to the soul. It has impressive architechtural design with neat and clean premises. And last but not the least canteen facilitiy is also good. It is advisable to go during the early morning hours to enjoy the sceneric view of this temple and to avoid the rush.

About and History

It is dedicated to Lord Swaminarayan and the temple was built in 2013 by Shri Vadtal Swaminarayan Temple. The temple is encircled by an artificial pond with a Shivaling and a beautiful fountain.

In Nilkanth Dham Swaminarayan Temple, The Shivaling in the artificial pond can be accessed via a peacock-shaped boat. The temple walls are exquisitely carved with figures from Hindu mythological scriptures. Every mandap has its flag that waves in the breeze and the stark blue water with the sand-colored stone come together in perfect harmony to offer a visual treat.

Also known as Poicha Temple, the area is so clean and well maintained. In the main temple, there are idols of God Vishnu with Sheshnag, Lord Ganesha, Hanumanji, 108 Gaumukh, Saptarish, and 12 Vishnu Avatars. One can also visit the Sahjanand Universe situated just opposite the main temple of Swaminarayan. Spread over an area of 24 acres, the place consists of a big Idol of Lord Swaminarayan with a height of 151 feet, more than 1100 idols related to Indian culture and Hindu pilgrimage, science city, amusement park, Water Park, boat riding, but bhulaiya, horror house, Yampuri darshan, lights, and sound shows in 3D and theaters.

The evening aarti of Lord Swaminarayan is the special attraction where one can see a giant elephant pulling the bell with the trunk. The temple looks very attractive in the evenings especially the light show grabs the crowd.

What are the experiences goes there is a good City to go and good place and temple to visit the pointer is a temple in which all the 108 gods are there together we can all spray to them and there is a system which is made made is also very good a good nature and good environment is there the garden and the temple in the entrance the Statue of Lord Shiva in the Avtar. Swaminarayan temples world over are beautifully carved and built, always well maintained, clean and a delight to visit. The Nilkanth Dham Swaminarayan complex situated on the bank of River Narmada at Poicha Village is no exception. It is a large temple complex said to have more than 1000 idols of different deities. In addition to Bhagwan Shri Swaminarayan the other main attractions are Lord Vishnu, Lord Ganesha, Lord Hanuman, Vishnu avatar darshan, 108 Gaumukh etc. The evening aarti of Bhagwan Shri Swaminarayan is a divine spiritual experience. The positive vibes here really energises you. This pilgrimage centre is a great fusion of spirituality and science as alongwith the beautiful temples there also is a science city. The variety of food served at this temple complex is of very good quality and reasonably priced. From the temple, one can see across the river, the other important religious centres of Chandod Triveni Sangam and Kuber Bhandari Shiva Temple. This is a Hindu temple situated on the banks of River Narmada, outside the city of Vadodara. The temple has a brilliant architecture along with an extremely calm and serene environment. One can easily spend 3-4 hours here, as it has ample sitting area, a food court with huge variety of snacks and lunch/dinner items, ice cream etc. I would recommend vising in the evening, as that will give two benefits : 1. You get to enjoy the beautiful sunset over River Narmada. 2. You also get to attend the evening procession which involves horses and elephants as well.

Do not indulge in the exhibition area as it is not really interesting and requires a lot of walking around. This temple is located in a remote area but lives to the expectations of every swaminarayan Temple. Neat, clean and picturesque. A good weekend getaway with parks, eateries and inner peace. Avoid peak hours if you do not like crowd. Ample parking space as well. The presence of a river adds...
