સમય ક્યારેય કોઇની રાહ જોવા થોભતો નથી. કાળ પોતાનું કાર્ય પોતાની ગતિ પ્રમાણે કર્યે જાય છે. અનેક અલૌકિક અને અનન્ય ઘટનાઓ જોવા કે માણવા પણ તે ઘડીભર થંભતો નથી. એવી જ રીતે યોગીઓ-જોગીઓનાં પુણ્યબળે સીંચાયેલ સીદસર ગામ ભવિષ્યમાં એક સુવર્ણયુગ પ્રગટાવવાનું નિમિત્ત બનશે, તે પણ કોણ જાણતું હતું!

જ્યારે-જ્યારે પણ સૃષ્ટિ પર માર્ગદર્શનની કે દિશાદર્શનની આવશ્યકતા ઉભી થઇ છે, ત્યારે જગતનિયંતાએ, તે ચાક્ક્સ પુરી કરી જ છે. તે પોતાનાં સંતાનોને ઘડેભર પણ ભૂલ્યા હોય એવું લાગતું નથી. સમાયંતરે થતું પરમતત્વોનું પ્રાગટ્ય, એ વાતની ખાતરી આપે છે કે, ઈશ્વરે હજુ માણસજાત વિશે શ્રદ્ધાં ગુમાવી નથી.

ઘણાં ચમત્કારો અને અલૌકિક ઘટનાઓ વિશે આપણે સાંભરતા હોઈએ છીએ. આવા દિવ્યપ્રસંગો કોઈ ધન્ય ઘડીએ કે ધન્ય સ્થળે જ થતા હોય છે, અને ત્યારથી જ તે ક્ષણ-કણ ઇતિહાસમાં અમરત્વ પ્રાપ્ત કરી લેતાં હોય છે. કંઇક આવી જ ઘટના આજથી લગભગ સો વર્ષ પહેલા બનેલી.

પોરબંદર જિલ્લાનાં દેવડા ગામમાં એક આસ્તિક ખેડૂત રહે. હંમેશા અને સતસંગ અને સંતસેવામાં મગ્ન આ પાટીદાર પ્રૌઢને લોકો રતનબાપા કહીને બોલાવતા. સરળ જીવ રતનબાપા કણસાગરા ખેતરમાં મજૂરી કામ કરે, પણ આંગને આવ્યો અતિથિ તેમને મન ભગવાન આવ્યા બરાબર. અભિયાગતને રોટલો અને સાધુસંતોની સેવા કરતા-કરતા ભોળિયા જીવે ભગવાનનું રટણ ચાલ્યા કરે. એમનાં વલગારી સ્વભાવ અને ઇશ્વરભક્તિને કારણે આજુબાજુનાં ગામડાનાં લોકો પણ તેમને ‘ભગત’ તરીકે ઓળખતા. આવા સહૃદય ભક્ત પાસે ભગવાન પણ કંઈક કામ લેવા ઈચ્છતા હશે, તેમ એક દિવસ એક સાધુ ભગતને આંગણે પધાર્યા. રતનબાપાએ સાધુનો આદરપૂર્વક સત્કાર કરી ભાવથી સેવા કરી. સાધુ આ ભગતની ખરા હૃદયની ભાવનાથી સંતુષ્ઠ થયા. એમણે ભગતને કહ્યું કે, “હે ભગત! તમારી શ્રદ્ધાં અને અખૂટ ભક્તિથી મા ઉમિયાની સેવા કરો, જીવન ધન્ય બનશે અને તમે અમર થઇ જશો!”

ત્યારથી જ રત્નાબાપાએ મા ઉમિયાની ભક્તિ કરવામાં પાછું વળીને જોયું નહિં. માતાની આરાધનાનાં બાહ્મ આડંબરો કે પૂજા-અર્ચનાની વિધિઓથી અજાણ ભગત તો બસ રાત ને દિવસ વિશુદ્ધ હૃદય અને અંતરનાં ઉંડાણથી મા ઉમિયાને ભજી રહ્યાં. તેમનાં રોમ-રોમથી પ્રગટતાં ચૈતન્ય અને નિષ્કામ ભક્તિનાં પ્રતાપે, એક અદભુત કાર્યનાં વાહક તરીકે વૈશ્વિક શક્તિએ પણ એમના પર પસંદગી ઉતારી.

એક રાત્રે રત્નાબાપા મતાજીનું સ્મરણ કરતા તંદ્રિત અવસ્થામાં પોતાનાં ખાટલા પર આરામ કરી રહ્યા છે. ભાવ સમાધિ જાગૃત-અજાગૃત અવસ્થાઓ પસાર કરી ગયેલ છે. ત્યાં તેમને દિવ્ય અનુભૂતિ થાય છે. જાણે સાક્ષાત મા ઉમિયા પાસે આવીને ઉભા છે. માતાનું તેજસ્વી મુખારવિંદ, આંખોમાં અમી દરિયા, આવા ભવ્ય દિવ્યસ્વરૂપની ઝાંખી કરતાં ભગત પોતાની જાતને ધન્ય-ધન્ય સમજે છે. થોડીવાર તો શું કરવું, શું બોલવું તેની સમજણ પણ ન પડી. કાલાઘેલી બાલુડાની જેમ ભગત માતાનાં ચરણોમાં ઢળી પડ્યાં. માતાએ આશીર્વાદ આપતા કહ્યું કે, “બેટા!સીદસર ગામની હદમાં મારી મૂર્તિ દટાયેલી છે, એને તું બહાર કઢાવ.” સવાર પડતાં સૂર્યદેવ પોતાનાં રથ પર સવાર થઇ સૃષ્ટિને આશીર્વાદ આપવા નીકળે છે, પરંતુ રત્નાબાપાની ગડમથલ ચાલુ રહે છે. રાત્રે જોયેલ એ મનોહર દ્રશ્ય મનમાંથી ખસતું નથી. આ ફક્ત ભ્રમણા જ છે કે હકીકત! લોકો મારી વાત માનશે કે નહિ માને ! આમ વિચારતા-વિચારતા પાછી રાત પડી જાય છે. ફરીથી રાતે માતાજી એ જ દિવ્યસ્વરૂપે પ્રગટ થાય છે અને ભગતનાં હૃદયનો રહ્યો સહ્યો સંશય પણ દૂર થઇ જાય છે.

બીજા દિવસે જ ભગત સીદસર ગામ આવે છે. ગામ લોકોને પોતાને થયેલ માતાજીનાં દિવ્ય સાક્ષાત્કારની વાત કરે છે અને માતાજીનો સંદેશો કહે છે. પહેલા તો લોકો સાચું માનવા તૈયાર થતા નથી, પરંતુ રત્નાબાપાની ભોળી મુખમુદ્રા અને માતાજીનાં અગોચર સંચારથી લોકો રત્નાબાપાએ આપેલ કંકુનાં સાથિયાની નિશાની પ્રમાણે શોધખોળ આરંભે છે.

ચાલતા-ચાલતા વેણુ નદીના દક્ષિણ કાંઠે એક નાનકડો કંકુનો સાથિયો દેખાય છે. ત્યાં ખોદકામ શરૂ કરે છે, પરંતુ મૂર્તિનાં બદલે વિશાલ કાળી શિલા દેખાય છે. માતાજી પર શ્રદ્ધાં રાખી મહામહેનતને શિલા હતાવતા જ... પ્રચંડ શુભ્ર પ્રકાશપુંજથી ઘડેભર લોકોની આંખો અંજાય છે. માતાજીની સંગેમરમરની મૂર્તિ જોતા જ લોકો આશ્ચર્યમાં પડી ગયાં. જાણે હમણાં જ કોઇએ માતાજીની પૂજા-અર્ચના કરી હોય એવી પવિત્ર સુગંધ અને અપાર્થિવ અનુભૂતિથી બધા ધન્ય બની ગયા. ઘડીભર તો માતાજીનું સ્વરૂપ નિરખતા આંખની કીકીઓ સ્થિર થઇ ગઇ. કેવું ભવ્ય સ્વરૂપ ! ચાર હાથ, કપાળમાં રૂડો ચાંદલો, ગળામાં હાર, હાથમાં કંગન, પગમાં તોડા ને માથે શોભતા મુકુટ ! ચૈતન્યસ્વરૂપા મા ઉમિયાની લીલી સાડી અને માથે લાલ ચૂંદડીથી આલૌકીક અઢી ફુટની પ્રતિમા ! જાણે કે હમાણા જ માતાના પોતાનાં બાલુડાઓને આશીર્વાદ આપવા મુખ ખોલશે એટલી જીવંત લાગતી હતી!
