Unai Mata temple is located in the small village of Unai near Vansada Taluka, in the Navsari district. The temple is associated with a story from the time when Lord Shree Ram was passing through the Dandakaranya forest, which is present-day Dang. Lord Shree Ram came across the ashram of sage Sharbhangs, a devotee of Shree Ram, who was suffering from a disease. Laksham, Lord Rama's brother, requested him to help cure the sage.
Lord Shree Ram shot an arrow into the ground, and hot water emerged, revealing a beautiful statue of the goddess Ushnamba Mata. Sage Sharbhang then bathed in the hot water spring and was instantly cured of his ailment. Since then, it is believed that any devotee who bathes in the hot water with faith will have their health restored. The town was named Unai, derived from the Gujarati term "Hu Nai," which means "I have bathed." The goddess Ushnamba Mata became known as Unai Mataji. This ancient and historical temple attracts thousands of devotees throughout the year.
The hot water spring releases water at a speed of 2500 gallons per hour, with an approximate temperature of 56 degrees Celsius. The water contains a large number of minerals with medicinal and healing properties. It is known to cure skin and joint-related problems, which is why it attracts a large number of people every day.
