Mini Zoo Bhiwani is situated on the City Railway station road and opposite Mini Secretariat Bhiwani within the municipal limits of Bhiwani town which is 2 Km. away from Bhiwani Railway station and 4 Km. away from Bhiwani Bus stand. The zoo is well connected by road and train with Delhi, Chandigarh, Jaipur, and other important cities. State Government had earlier decided to close down the zoo, however, with the keen interest of Mrs. Kiran Choudhry the then Minister of Forests, Haryana, the zoo was revived by Central Zoo Authority, New Delhi in September 2006. As a part of modernization and providing the best facilities to the animals in this zoo, a number of works are being carried out. These include construction of the wall and cemented flooring of Hippo enclosure, tile flooring of paths, construction of three number of bird aviaries, construction of post mortem room, one treatment room and construction of leopard, Tiger, Gharial, and Fox enclosures, etc. The entire deer park has been fenced with chain links and climbers like Railway Glory, Rangoon glory, and Trumpet flower planted at a close spacing near the fence besides Ashoka trees. A number of fodder and fruit trees like Jandi, Mulberry, Barh, and Pilkhan also has been planted in the park with a view to providing a feel of the natural environment to the animals. The foundation stone of renovation and expansion of Bhiwani Zoo was laid on 15th November 2006 by Ch. Bhupinder Singh Hooda, Hon’ble Chief Minister of Haryana. As per the provision laid down in the Wildlife Protection Act, 1972 (amended), it is mandatory to obtain permission for setting up a zoo from Central Zoo Authority, Govt. of India. Accordingly, permission was sought and the zoo was accorded the status of Mini Zoo (small category zoo) on 14th August 2008. Controlling authority of Mini Zoo Bhiwani is Chief Wild Life Warden, Government of Haryana, C-18, Van Bhawan, Sector-6, Panchkula (Haryana). The zoo has all facilities for visitors and animals/birds in its captivity. An uninterrupted water supply is available to the zoo animals as well as visitors. There are two public toilets and a water cooler with an R.O. water purifier for visitors. Sanitary facilities, sitting arrangements, resting sheds, and children’s parks are also available for visitors. Zoo’s outer boundary is enclosed by a 2.4 Meter high wall all around the area. Power supply to the zoo comes from D.H.B.V.N. Ltd. and sufficient electricity is available as per the requirement of the zoo. The ticket window is on the gate and is well managed. The rates of entry tickets are Rs. 10/- per adult and Rs. 5/- per child between 5-12 years of age. The zoo remains open for the public from 9.00 AM to 6.00 PM in the summer and 9.00 AM. to 5.00 PM. in the winter. Tiger enclosure is the biggest, with a single kraal and one exhibit area. Other enclosure such as Leopards, deer, Hippopotamus, Crocodile, Desert fox, Gharial, are good-sized enclosures. Animals housed in Bhiwani zoo are Crocodile, Black Bear, Gharial, Fox, Spotted Deer, Sambar, Hippopotamus, Red Jungle Fowl, Leopard, Silver Pheasant, Cockatiel, Love bird, Java sparrow, Budgerigar, Barn Owl and Tiger. We had moderately good experience.

During my visit to Bhiwani zoo, I was pleasantly surprised by the overall experience. The zoo's layout is well-planned, with clearly marked paths and informative signages, making navigation easy. The variety of animals housed in the zoo is impressive, ranging from exotic species to local wildlife. The enclosures are spacious and well-maintained, providing a comfortable environment for the animals. I particularly enjoyed observing the diverse bird species in the aviary, and the big cats' enclosure was captivating. The zoo staff were knowledgeable and approachable, offering insights about the animals and their conservation efforts. Educational programs and interactive exhibits added an extra layer of engagement for visitors of all ages. Facilities such as clean restrooms, refreshment stalls, and shaded seating areas contributed to the overall convenience. The well-manicured gardens and landscaping added to the aesthetic appeal of the zoo. Overall, my visit to Bhiwani zoo left a positive impression, and I would highly recommend it to anyone looking for an enjoyable and educational day out surrounded by diverse wildlife.

I am sure that every one of us would be familiar with the word ‘Zoo’ and most of us would have visited the Zoo at least once in his/her life. Visiting a Zoo can make one fall in love with Mother Nature. Watching such a great variety of animals and birds can help students and especially kids in learning new things about the animal kingdom.

Zoos are the best place to visit on the weekends. We must be careful while visiting a Zoo. Every Zoo has a set of instructions for visitors to make their visit safe, peaceful and enjoyable. We can easily find these instructions written on boards and placed on the appropriate places in the Zoo.

Among those instructions, one most common and the most important is about prohibiting visitors from feeding the animals or birds. The careless feeding to animals by people may cause them a serious illness or sudden death too. Another important instruction in the Zoo says people to maintain a proper distance from the barrier. This instruction is especially for the children, and the parents should take care of it.

You can refresh your mind by having a visit to any nearby Zoo. Visiting a Zoo can also provide a curious child with the most beautiful he could have ever. He/she can get inspiration for loving nature from there. The Zoo is a place to grow and nurture different wild species, and if you find anything against nature there, you...
