Saraswathi Teerth Dham Pehowa — Attraction in Haryana

We reached pehowa around 10am on June 13 having started at 6am in the morning from South Delhi. The road is well built so we had no issue. We went there for Gati Puja for my father in law. The place is highly commercialized where every single person is dependent on steady stream of pilgrims coming in to perform the last rites of their loved ones. Every one of them demands nothing else but money!!

The pind daan ceremony started with pandit saying - pay whatever you feel like and within minutes ended with hard bargaining where the same pandit ( carrying iphones) demands no less than Rs.2500/- to utter gayatri mantra.

There was much crowd and every corner, space on floor was occupied with devotees getting the last rites done by a good number of pandits. The pool around the temple is stagnant and people take buckets of water from it to water a tree nearby and take a bath in its water.

The final step of the rite is about offering oil into a temple which only males can enter. There was a big queue and when we reached inside the oil was taken from us and there was an immediate demand of 100 rs.

There is nothing spiritual about pehowa. Its all about exploiting faith. People go home cheated off their hard earned money, satisfied that their departed family member is now in 7th heaven, and this was all absolutely necessary.

An absolute stranger who is hungry for only money can not pray with love and give any happiness to your departed loved...

You never visit this place until unless you have not lost someone in your family recently. This was same for me as well. With tears rolling from my eyes, having some fresh memories of my beloved mom who left us recently, I went to this small town – Pehowa.

Pehowa is located in Kurukshetra district of Haryana, India. It is an important religious and historical place, known primarily for its significance in Hindu mythology and its association with ancient temples and rituals.

It is said that this place is mainly for performing shradh rituals, which are prayers for the deceased ancestors to bring peace to their souls. It is located on the banks of the Saraswati River, which holds sacred value in Hindu traditions. You must know your family information like your gotra, caste, your parents birth place and so on to perform rituals for deceased. You can conduct the ritual with any of the pandit and rest offerings and dakshina depends on your pocket.

Usually, Pind Daan ceremony is also conducted here, where offerings are made to the souls of ancestors, is an important activity for Hindus...

TRAVELING METHOD(BY BUS) DELHI -KERNAL-PIPALI-KURUSHETRA-PEHOWA. KASHMERE GATE METRO STATION HAS ISBT BUS STAND. FROM DELHI ISBT BUS STAND KASHMERE GATE TAKE BUS TOWARDS PIPALI KURUKSHETRA(150 Rs. PER PERSON) OR KERNAL OR PEHOWA IS BEST BUT BUS TOWARDS PEHOWA COMES VERY LATE AND NOT VERY FREQUENTLY!(140rs per person) FROM PIPALI BUS STAND TAKE AUTO(TUK TUK ) FROM OTHER SIDE OF ROAD GOING TOWARDS KURUSHERTA BUS STAND.(20rs per oerson) FROM KURUSHETRA BUS STAND BUS TOWARDS PEHOWA IS DIRECT.(40 rs. Per person)

OBSERVATIONS & ANALYSIS People throw food item (threads ,wheat dough mostly inside the pond ,kumkum ,rice ,til ,seasme seeds) Pond is full of green algae not fit even for bath.(water is not cleaned or changer regularly). Superstition works by purohits are done here they demand 5500rs starting then 4500rs,then 3500rs then 2500rs,then minimum they asked is 1000rs.(if middle is there Purohit fees + middleman fees) Middleman is everywhere be cautious! Beggars and theives,pick pocketers are everywhere and common here! The MUNCIPAL CORPORATION & SDM should take actions to make rules and regulations here and must clean the pond regularly! AND RECEIPT METHOD BY GOVT. FOR GATI KIRYA AND PIND DAAN ,10 vi ,11 vi ,13 vi ! 7.The temple near pipal tree is not real temple where yudhister (elder brother of pandavas) pour the oil the real temple is outside from saraswati ghat,ADVICE : TAKE CLOTHS FOR DONATION (if required to donate)& 1LITRE OIL BOTTLE FROM HOME OTHERWISE YOU WILL PAY EXTRA AMOUNT HERE! Nearby gurudwara where guru nanak (1st sikh guru ) came on this place on his world tour (saakhi).
