Khajjiar is located at the foot of Dhauladkar , in the lap of Himalayas and is 2000 meters above sea level.

Khajjiar sits on a small plateau with a small stream-fed lake in the middle that has been covered over with weeds. The hill station is surrounded by meadows and forests. It is about 6,500 feet (2,000 m) above sea level in the foothills of the Dhauladhar ranges of the Western Himalayas and peaks can be seen in the distance. Please don't get befooled by it's title 'Switzerland of India'. This title, however, was given by Swiss Foreign Minister himself, but in 1992. Since then the place's beauty has only detiriorated. This place is the worst and the dirtiest I've ever been to in the mountains of India. Since the start of horse riding the conditions have become worse, you'll find horse dung littered everywhere. It really looks like Switzerland but the mantainance here is not as it should be. Specially when its rainy season, the adventure activities stops. We went for paragliding but unfortunately due to bad weather assumptions they said they can’t provide us the service. Also there is very bad service for local transportation.
