Not only for Trout Fishing and Hydel Projects, but also the Barot valley is know for some offbeat locations, especially the places like this. This waterfall is located in the Lapas village, which is a diversion of around 2kms from the Ghatasani-Barot Road. Although the 2 kms patch was a complete offroad, yet it’s easy to navigate from almost every type of vehicle. But I do suggest you to avoid going there during heavy rainfall. After reaching the Lapas village, you will find a milestone of Lapas, and from there you have to take a small trail which will be on your left side. You need to trek for 15 minutes to reach there. The trek is easy, and everyone can reach the place. There are few shops and camps at the waterfall, which were closed during my visit as I went there on the last dates of February month, considered to be a part of off-season. As I was alone there, I found the place very soothing and therapeutical. The waterfall is of decent size and beautiful. There’s also a wooden bridge constructed nearby the waterfall. As the waterfall is located down the valley, there is no view of the surrounding areas. Moreover, I found a huge number of liquor bottles and wrappers around this place. I request all the people, especially the tourists to keep the area clean. Overall, it’s a decent waterfall and easy to reach. If you are in Barot valley, I’ll definitely recommend you to...
Read moreOn 7 June 2023, we were driving from Mandi to Barot. It was while navigating the google map for directions, from Mandi to Barot, that we discovered LAPAS Waterfall. First we thought of giving LAPAS a PASS, but on second thoughts we decided to visit it since it was so PAAS (near) 😀. There was a bifurcation of the road, about 5 km before Barot, (near the Barot, Waterfall Camps & Domes) and the narrow uphill road lead to the Waterfall. We don't remember seeing any signage there. After driving for about 2 km on this narrow uphill road, we reached a point where we parked our car and then walked to the Waterfall. It was a short walk. Believe me friends, it turned out to be the best decision of that day. WE GOT SO MESMERIZED BY THE WATERFALL THAT WE ENDED UP SPENDING TWO HOURS THERE. I was seeing some recent pics and videos of the Waterfall and found that the place has become quite commercialized now. However, we were very lucky to find almost no crowd, when we visited, and there was also a cute wooden bridge in front of the Waterfall (which I do not see in recent pics). It seems the bridge was built by the locals there, because they were charging 10 rupees per head (or was it 20?) for climbing the bridge. There were a couple of cafes around, serving tea, coffee, snacks...
