Extremely pleasant place which gives good vibes and positive feeling. One has to park 2 wheeler/4 wheeler at the base and then climb (800 metres approx; no stairs) up the hill by foot to reach the temple area. Parking is free. At the base, bottled drinking water, snacks items are available but don't have High expectations. After reaching the top, one can visit the temple, Cave, Helipad, Pond etc but a strong suggestion to reach the place by 10 am so that ample time is available for visiting. Photography/Videography INSIDE the temple is prohibited. Road to reach the place (2 hours from Bilaspur) is difficult and road condition too is not good. View from the top is out of this world and photogenic. Monkeys, greenery etc are eye catching. One has to go to Ratanpur from Bilaspur and then to Podi and Lapha to arrive at the destination. There's much more to add but better keep it short. Interested persons can ask questions for details

श्री आदी शक्ति माँ महिषासुर मर्दिनी प्रसिद्ध चैतुरगढ़ का किला छत्तीसगढ़ के कोरबा जिले में आता है। इस किले को लाफागढ़ किला नाम से भी जाना जाता है। इस किले को प्राकृतिक महत्व तो है ही लेकिन साथ ही इस किले को वास्तुकला की दृष्टि से देखा जाए तो इसका महत्व और भी बढ़ जाता है। ऐतिहासिक दृष्टि से चैतुरगढ़ किले को बहुत ही महत्व प्राप्त है। पुरातत्वविद इस किले को एक प्राकृतिक और मजबूत किला मानते है। कुछ का ऐसा भी मानना है मध्य प्रान्त और बेरार में मिले कुछ शिलालेख बताते है यह किला 933 कलचुरी के ज़माने का है और उस वक्त कलचुरी राजा का शासन था। ऐसा माना जाता है की यहाँ का राजा हैहाया परिवार का था और उसे अठरा लड़के थे। उस राजा के लडको में से एक का नाम कलिंगा था और उस कलिंगा का लड़का कमला राजा था। कमला राजा ने तुम्मना पर कई सालो तक शासन किया था। लेकिन कमला राजा को रत्नराजा 1 ने हराया था। लेकिन रत्नराजा के बाद पृथ्वीदेव ने शासन किया। ऐसा कहा जाता है की इस किले का निर्माण राजा पृथ्वीदेव ने करवाया था। भारत का पुरातत्व विभाग इस किले की देखभाल का काम देखता है। प्रसिद्ध महिषासुर मर्दिनी मंदिर भी यहीपर है। यहाँ के मंदिर में महिषासुर मर्दिनी की 12 हातोवाली मूर्ति स्थापित की गयी है। इस मंदिर से 3 किमी की दुरी पर शंकर गुफा है। यह गुफा एक सुरंग की तरह है जो की 25 फूट की है। इस गुफा का आकार बहुत छोटा होने के कारण इसमें से रेंगते हुए ही जाना पड़ता है। इस चैतुरगढ़ या लाफागढ़ किले की दीवारे एक तरह से ने ना होने के कारण हमें इसकी दीवारे कई जगह पर छोटी तो कई जगह पर मोटी देखने को मिलती है। किले के प्रवेश द्वार बहुत ही खुबसूरत तरीक़े से बनाया गया है। इसमें कई सारे स्तंभ और मुर्तिया भी देखने को मिलती है। यहापर एक बहुत बड़ी गुबंद है जो मजबूत स्थम्भो पर बनायीं गयी है। इस गुबंद को आधार देने के लिए पाच स्तंभ बनवाये गए थे। किले के बाजु में जो पहाड़ी है उसके आजूबाजू में पाच तालाब थे जो की करीब 5 वर्ग किमी में फैले हुए थे। उन पाच तालाबो में से तीनतालाब साल भर पानी से भरे रहते थे। किले को मेनका, हुम्कारा और सिंहद्वार नामके तीन सबसे अहम द्वार माने जाते है। बहुत सारे किले को एक ही नाम दिया जाता है। लेकिन चैतुरगढ़ के किले को एक नहीं बल्कि दो नाम दिए गए है। और यही इस किले की खासियत है। इस किले को चैतुरगढ़ के साथ साथ लाफागढ़ किला नाम से भी जाना जाता है। और सबसे बड़ी और चौकाने वाली बात यह है की यह किला इतना उचाई पर होने के बाद इसके सबसे ऊपर के इलाके में एक नहीं बल्की पुरे पाच तालाब है और उनमेसे ज्यादातर तालाबो में साल भर पानी भरा रहता है।

Must visit... Chaithurgarh (Lafagarh) is situated around 70 kms away from Korba town. it is 25 KM north of Pali and situated at a height of 3060 height on the hill top. It was constructed by Raja Pratwidev First. Archeologists consider it as one of the strongest natural fort. Since it is protected by strong natural walls, only at some places walls have been built. The fort has three main entrances which are named as Menaka, Humkara, and Simhadwar.

On the hilltop there is a plain area having an area of 5sqkm. where there are five ponds. Out of which three are Perennially full of water.

The famous Mahishasur Mardini temple is situated here. The idol of Mahishasur Mardini having 12 hands is installed in the sanctum sanctorum. Shankar cave is situated 3 kms away from the temple. The cave which is like a tunnel, is 25 ft. long. One can go inside the cave only by creeping since it is very short in diameter.

The hillocks of chaithurgarh is famous for its natural beauty and the adventures experiences it offers. Many types of wild animals and birds are found here. The SECL constructed a rest house for visitors here. The temple trust also made some rooms for the tourists. Special Pujas are held during...
