I had a wonderful experience at Riva Waterfall, a hidden gem near Chandigarh. It is located in Tikar, a small village in Solan district of Himachal Pradesh. It is about 12 km from Solan, 42 km from Shimla, and 80 km from Chandigarh. The drive to the waterfall was scenic and adventurous, as the road was narrow and unpaved. I enjoyed the views of the hills and the forest along the way.
The waterfall is not very popular among tourists, so it was not crowded at all. I had to hike for about 10 minutes from the main road to reach the waterfall. The hike was not very difficult, but it was exciting and fun. I crossed a small bridge over a stream, and followed a trail through the woods. The sound of the water was getting louder and louder, until I finally saw the waterfall.
The waterfall was stunning and beautiful. It was about 20 feet high, and it cascaded over a large rock. The water was crystal clear and cold, and it formed a natural pool at the bottom. The pool was surrounded by greenery and rocks, and it looked like a paradise. I could not resist taking a dip in the pool, and it felt so refreshing and relaxing. The water was soothing for my body and mind.
I spent about an hour at the waterfall, enjoying the nature and the tranquility. I took some amazing pictures of the waterfall and myself. I also met some friendly locals who told me some interesting stories about the waterfall and the village. They said that the waterfall is also known as Ashwini Khad, and that it is considered sacred by some people. They also said that there are no shops or facilities near the waterfall, so one has to bring their own food and water.
I had a great time at Riva Waterfall, and I would highly recommend it to anyone who loves nature and adventure. It is one of the best waterfalls in Himachal Pradesh, and it is worth visiting. It is a perfect place to escape from the hustle and bustle of the city, and to enjoy some peace and serenity. It is a hidden treasure that deserves more recognition and...

Read moreNot recommended for females alone, senior citizens and children Me and my husband specially travelled from Chandigarh to visit this waterfall on a weekday. The last 10kms from Solan to waterfall were beautiful but secluded and deserted! The road was narrow too and the best is to visit on bikes but in a group. As soon as we reached the bridge, we saw 6-7 men (some in vests and some without vests, who just came out from waterfall) chilling, dancing, drinking outside near their cars! My husband was suggesting to not go inside as it didn had any smooth way plus we were alone but we anyhow did.
It has a complicated trek and a very rough path which is not at all suitable for everyone! One slip and you are gone! Then again few guyz were enjoying there drinks there which made us uncomfortable but they were kind enough to guide us the way to reach inside the waterfall. Then we saw a group including females and took an easy breath that thank god we are not alone!
We reached waterfall and it was mesmerising, enjoyed there for 40-50 mins and came back!
There is no proper parking space, no guarantee of any safety, and people are eating and throwing packets and bottles there itself! It is highly suggested to go in a group! And please please please pick the garbage and dont litter the place and be safe!! Plus, your clothes will get dirty no matter you take a bath in the waterfall or not (because of rough trek)! Skirts and dresses are not suitable for this place!
I have seen some of the men removing their tshirts and showing their stupid bodies and making people around uncomfortable! Please stop that and...
