Adamgadh Hills, located in Hoshangabad, Madhya Pradesh, India, is a significant historical site known for its prehistoric rock shelters and cave paintings. Adamgadh Hills is a must-visit for history buffs and nature enthusiasts. The site offers a unique opportunity to explore prehistoric rock shelters and admire ancient cave paintings. However, improvements in cleanliness, information, and preservation are needed to enhance the visitor experience and protect this valuable historical site. What's great: Historical significance: Adamgadh Hills is one of the earliest known sites in India with evidence of prehistoric human habitation. The rock shelters contain paintings that offer a glimpse into the lives of people from the Stone Age. Natural beauty: The hills are surrounded by dense forests, providing a tranquil and picturesque setting. The interplay of light and shadow within the caves creates a captivating atmosphere. Accessibility: The site is easily accessible and is located near the town of Hoshangabad. Affordable: The entrance fee is minimal, making it an affordable destination for all. What could be improved: Cleanliness: Some visitors have reported that the site is not well-maintained, with litter and garbage scattered around. This detracts from the overall experience and harms the historical site. Lack of information: Some visitors have expressed a desire for more information about the history and significance of the rock paintings. While there are some signs, more could be done to educate visitors. Preservation: The rock paintings are fragile and need better preservation efforts to prevent further damage. Additional tips for visitors: Carry water and snacks, as there are limited options available at the site. Wear comfortable shoes for walking and exploring the caves. Visit during the cooler months to avoid the heat. Be respectful of the site and do not litter or damage the paintings. Photography is allowed, but avoid using flash as it can damage the paintings. Overall, Adamgadh Hills is a fascinating destination that offers a glimpse into India's rich prehistoric past. With some improvements in maintenance and preservation, it has the potential to become an even more popular...

An Indian Archeological Heritage site located in District place Hoshangabad ( Madhya Pradesh). From city one can walk, run or visit by vehicles at this place. This place is on the way to Itarsi from Hoshangabad. Underneath beautiful and amazing rock formations one can find various natural caves where 5000-6000 years old wall paintings are inked by the early men, surrounded by greenary, main road to city hoshangabd and the railway track. One can experience a beautiful sun rise and sun set with such a meamerizing scenery around. There is an entry charge for domestic and foreign visitors paid only via online payments. Locals must feel proud to have such a marvel located in their town and must come ahead to preserve and promote it further. People must visit to witness this beautiful place while keeping the social/ environmental responsibility intact. Do not eat/ cook/ litter in the site area. There is a small hut at the enterance one can use that facility to have their meal and please use dustbins to throw your residuals/ garbage. This place has Prehistoric Caves with Neolithic Paintings. I got the Entry Ticket for 20Rs. for foreigners it is 300Rs. Entry is Free for Under 15yo tourists. Ticketing System is online, I had to scan the QR code at the counter and it will open a website of ASI where you can pay and generate ticket.

It's a peaceful place , but many people don't know that you can find early stone age paintings made by stone age people. Most of them have faded away but you can go to cave no. 10 to see some paintings. Walk straight on the paved path and after walking for quite some distance you'll find cave 10 on your left. Look at some height and you'll see the paintings. Don't forget to notice the paintings of Giraffes. As this is paleolithic age site so that time probably because the continents were together, Giraffes were also there.

It's good place for chilling but the Administration should focus on keeping this place clean and also the citizens should have some sense of self...

Adamgarh rock shelter is located in Hoshangabad district. It is located 3 km away from Narmadapuram. The first evidence of humans being cattle herders has been found from Adamgarh. What was read in books, today I saw it in person. 30,000 years ago, the Adamgarh hills were formed in Hoshangabad district of Madhya Pradesh, on which the primitive man made caves to live and painted inside the caves. There was no script at that time, there was only a pictorial script, and primitive man was expressing his feelings through paintings. Archaeologist Manoranjan Ghosh discovered it in 1922. What a beautiful, what an amazing, picturesque sight. ✍️🌱
