A sacred place of worship for Goddess Narmada, the Diety Goddess for a section of brahmins who's origin is defined on the banks of the mighty river. The Goddess is worshipped by almost everyone irrespective of their caste and spreads over 1300 kilometers long originating from Amarkantak and merging into the Arabian Sea near Bharonch through the Sethani Ghat marking Hoshangabad at one side of the river and Budhni at the other. The Goddess is believed for it's immense sanctity and nourishment. There are temples of Goddess Narmada, Lord Shiva, Lord Hanuman, and a beautiful Gayatri Mandir. Active groups like the "Narmadiya Yuva Shakti" have put in some continuous and sincere efforts in trying to maintain the cleanliness of the place. The beauty of the ghat is multiplied after the sunset by the powerful vibrations of the Aarti and the lighting rangoli on the ghat that is illuminated by pure white fled lights as shown in the photographs. Both, the day and night views have been picturized for your interests. Proper railings have been marked approximately 10 feet on the shores of the ghat for people to bathe and drench their clothes safely without draining any kind of soaps in to the water. Motor and simple boats aur used to facilitate the movement of people from one shore to the other for some beautiful temples even on the Budhni side. Toilets have been constructed at the main entrance of the ghat. Proper and durable dustbins have been evenly disbursed all over the place for the collection of waste around the ghat. Some small steps have been specially designed systematically in many lines from the top of the ghat till the beginning of the water at the shores. Ages old huge trees add to the beauty of the Indian Monument.

I was visited in last year according to me some points, for local municipal team or Administration of Narmada river . The ghat looks like very bad in conditions no cleaning and even no any security person gaurd for safety. During Narmada Jayanti celebrations the ghat comes alive when thousands of people converge on the ghats and diyas are floated in the river. The ghat was built after generous contributions by Jankibai Sethani from the Sharma family in Hoshangabad after devotees complained to her about the difficulty in getting to the river, Hence the ghat is named after her. It is one of the few examples of public infrastructure built through private funding in India. A photo of Narmada from Sethani ghat can be seen in the book Jungle Rahe Taki Narmada Bahe!, by Pankaj Srivastava. One of the largest ghats in India along the banks of the Narmada river which was built in the 19th century. thousands of people converge on this ghat during the Narmada Jayanthi celebrations.  This ghat is always filled with people all the time. The ghats on bank of river Narmada here are quiet big. The water here is ok for a dip. The ghat is wide and its quiet sunny here. The best time to visit here is winters or early mornings. You can... The plan was to visit ghat of river Narmada and Hoshangabad Shah fort. River Narmada was running to brink for the effect of monsoon. We visited the Narmada river ghat - well laid steps and clean.

This is a vast Narmada river bank commonly known as Sethani Ghat. This has historical importance for Hoshangabad since Narmada is a holy river for Madhya Pradesh with its own religious and spiritual importance. The river Narmada gives soothing impression. One must visit this place while passing through Hoshangabad [now known as Narmadapuram]. This is the soul of Narmadapuram. During the special events like Narmada jayanti, this ghat has its own beauty. There are temples located in the premises, which are of religious importance. Also, few Dharmshala located nearby. However, during normal days, one can see cows and dogs roaming around and eating the Prasad. This Ghat is similar to Shipra Ghat Ujjain. In the evening the Ghat looks very good. The painted stairs add to the beauty of the Ghat. It has a big entrance gate what is another attraction. The Ghat is having emotional attachment with the people of Hoshangabad and Madhya Pradesh, but government should take more care of cleanliness. There should be clean washrooms as the only public toilet is not good. The water near the bank is polluted. There are parking issues on the festival and other occasions. The traffic is congested in the nearby areas as expected. There are few food points near the ghat.
