Hazrat Hussain Shah Wali RA was a revered sufi saint of Golconda, during the reign of Qutb Shahi dynasty. He is credited with building the Hussain Sagar at Hyderabad in the year 1562. His patronymic name is Abdullah and his title is known as Nasir Uddin and his name is famous as Hussain alias Hussain Shah Wali and he belongs Sadat family of Hussaini chain (descendant of the holy prophet through his daugher Hazrat Fatima RH) and he was connected with Hazrat Syedna Imam Hussain RA in the25th generation and through some connections he was also linked with Khaja Bande Nawaz Gesu Daraz of Gulberga and who is famous famous Sufi Saint of Deccan (South India) .To write about Bande Nawaz Gesu Daraz of Gulberga who was great Sufi saint and great author so it is not only difficult and but it is very hard task as he was not only a great pious personality of his time in the area of Deccan (South India) but he was also a great author of so many great books so in brief he was Quâtub (highest cadre in spiritual pivot at axis) of his time in the Deccan region. Hussain Shah Wali belongs to linage of elder son of Khaja Bande Nawaz and his name Is Hazrat Syed Mohamed Ali Hussaini.Lineage and Geneology.
There are some differences by historians in the compilation of his geneology records but all of them are agreed and have confiremd the details that he belongs to lineage of sons of Khaja Bande Nawaz of Gulberga. As per reference from the book âTadhkira Aulia Deccanâ, his geneology record is mentioned as follows. Hazrat Hussain Shah Wali. Syed Saqir Ullah alias Safi Ullah Thani. Asad Ullah Amin. Askar Ullah alias Safi Ullah. Shah Mohammed Akbar Hussaini. Syed Mohammed al Hussaini Khaja Bande Nawaz. He was arrived in Golconda Fort from Gulberga during the rule of Sultan Ibrahim Qutub Shah who was ruling in the Telengana area at that time.
As a matter of fact the Sultan of Golconda Ibrahim Qutub Shah was follower of Shiaism but he was a great admirer and lover of Sunni learned persons as well as holy saints so for this reason upon his arrival in Golconda Fort he has sent his ministers and officers to call Hussain Shah Wali to the Court of Golcondia and as per orders of the sultan the ministers and officers have arranged for his stay and hospitality with great honour and respect and they brought Hussain Shah Wali in the royal court of Golconda. The sultan was much impressed by him and he has given him much attention and respect to him and also in his first meeting awarded him the post of commander of 10,000 troops and also offered him the post secretary of royal construction works. After some time The Sultan was very kind with him and also accepted him as his son in law and arranged the grand marriage of her beautiful and lovely daughter Khairat Unnisa Begum with him and awarded him many grants and estates. Shah Wali arrived at Golconda, Hyderabad during the rule of Sultan Ibrahim Qutb Shah. The sultan arranged for Shah Wali's stay, and in his first meeting gave Shah Wali the command over 10,000 troops and also named him secretary of royal construction works. Fakir quality:- Though externally Shah Wali was rich in his appearance in the royal court of Golconda, but actually he was a fakir in his batin (innermost). As he was having qualities of fakir, people of all faiths visited him with their problems. There was free entry for all in his court to represent their problems and difficulties, and he never kept watchmen at the door of his house. Hussain Sagar:- Hussain Shah wali is credited with building the Hussain Sagar lake at Hyderabad in the year 1562. Built on a tributary of the river Musi to meet the water and irrigation needs of the city. Ministers and royal officers tried hard to name the lake "Ibrahim Sagar" after the Sultan of Golconda, but due to love of the people towards Hussain Shah wali, the lake became popular as Hussain Sagar.
