जबलपुर का बाजनामठ भैरव मंदिर तंत्र साधना के लिए जाना जाता है। इस मंदिर को देश के प्रमुख मंदिरों में गिना जाता है। पहाड़, तालाब के साथ ही इस मंदिर से प्राकृतिक नजारा देखते ही बनता है। यहां पूजन के लिए वैसे तो हर दिन भक्त पहुंचते हैं, लेकिन शनिवार और रविवार को यहां बड़ी संख्या में भक्तों का जमावड़ा रहता है। मेडिकल कालेज के आगे बने इस मंदिर की बनावट भी अद्भुत है। जो हर मंदिर में देखने नहीं मिलती। क्योंकि इसकी हर ईंट शुभ नक्षत्र में मंत्रों द्वारा सिद्ध करके जमाई गई है। ऐसे मंदिर पूरे देश में कुल तीन हैं, जिनमें एक बाजनामठ तथा दूसरा काशी और तीसरा महोबा में हैं।

बाजनामठ का निर्माण 1520 ईस्वी में राजा संग्राम शाह द्वारा भैरव मंदिर के नाम से कराया गया था। बताते हैं कि उनके राज्य में ये मंदिर अतिप्रचलित था और राज्य के ज्यादातर लोग यहां पूजन करने आते थे। कहते हैं कि इस मठ के गुंबद से त्रिशूल से निकलने वाली प्राकृतिक ध्वनि-तरंगों से शक्ति जागृत होती है। भक्त बताते हैं कि बाजनामठ में पूजा-अर्चना से लोगों को चमत्कारिक लाभ हुए हैं। यहां तेल व पुष्प चढ़ाने से शनि व राहु की पीड़ा से राहत मिलती है। इसी उम्मीद से हजारों की संख्या में भक्त आते हैं और उनकी मुराद पूरी भी होती है।

मंदिर में एक भी छेद नहीं है, जिसकी वजह से यहां हल्की सी आवाज भी गूंजने लगती है। अंदर भगवान शिव के अंश भैरव की मूर्ति है। मंदिर में प्रवेश करते ही धुआं और अंधेरा नजर आता है। यहां से निकलने के लिए भी एक ही दरवाजा है। यहां आने जाने वाले भक्त बम बम बम की आवाज से अपनी आस्था प्रकट करते हैं। भक्त भैरव बाबा को झंडे भी चढ़ाते हैं।

गोड शासक संग्राम शाह स्वयं यहां पूजन करने आते थे। वे भैरव के बड़े भक्त थे और उनके आशीर्वाद से ही वे कभी कोई युद्ध नहीं हारे। कहा जाता है कि यहां उन दिनों कई तांत्रिक क्रियाओं को संपन्न् किया जाता था। जिसकी वजह से रात को भी मंदिर में आवागमन बना रहता था।

देश में भैरव के 17 सर्वप्रमुख तांत्रिक मंदिर हैं जिसमें जबलपुर का मंदिर अद्भूत एवं अद्वितीय है। त्रिपुरी में शैव मत की स्थापना से यहां पूजन हो रहा है। गोलकी मठ तांत्रिक विश्वविद्यालय का यह मंदिर प्रमुख अध्ययन केंद्र रहा है। गोंड शासकों का इतिहास देखा जाए तो इस मंदिर का निर्माण सन 1520 में महाप्रतापी राजा संग्राम शाह ने कराया था। इसे विश्व विरासत में शामिल किया जाना चाहिए।

Bajnamath/bhairav mandir is One of the oldest and most visited temple in Jabalpur. This temple has a lot of belief and numbers of people visited it daily. This temple is 1 km near to Medical college and 2 km from Tilwara Ghat. You can also get some good scenic views from the top. It is the only bhairavnath ji temple in jabalpur.Best time to visit temple is 6:00 pm. Need to climb some 50 stairs.there are temples of other gods as well. Going is worth it.
