Very good location very beautiful view from here very less tourists go to this place this was the second most beautiful place in Kashmir there is snow all around but be careful and find out that are you allowed to go upto the top. many times they close it to clear the snow from the roads which go up to the top and only allow you to go half the way or upto the point where snow has been cleared to see the view but the local taxi people will scam you by telling that they have the permission to go up to the top and will take you in there vehicle but once you get in after 2 or 3 km he will tell you that he has nearly taken you upto the top and can’t take you any further because it can be a dangerous drive upto the top this way he will scam you take money from you and not take you upto the top where he will first commit that he will take you. Beware Kashmir is a very beautiful place but most of the Kashmiri local people are scammers they only think how they can extract money from you without doing any work for you I hardly found 2 or 3 local people who came in my contact who did not try to scam Do visit this place it’s very pristine and very beautiful worth a visit but be careful of local scammers and ack smarty Once you hear 2 locals talking in Kashmiri in fount of you then you should understand that they are talking about how to scam you and what will be there share in the scam Best months to visit this place is from march to may

Sinthan Top, also known as Sinthan Pass, is a breathtaking mountain pass nestled in the Pir Panjal Range of Jammu & Kashmir. Perched at an altitude of approximately 3,792 m (12,450 ft), it connects the Breng Valley near Kokernag in Anantnag district to the Kishtwar region via NH‑244. Often blanketed in snow throughout most of the year, the pass offers mesmerising 360° panoramic views of both Kashmir and Jammu divisions .

The winding road to Sinthan Top, marked by dramatic hairpin bends through dense pine and deodar forests, transforms the journey into an adventure itself . Travelers typically approach from Srinagar via Anantnag and Kokernag, covering roughly 135 km in around 5–6 hours Accessibility is seasonal—open from late spring (April/May) through early autumn (September), while heavy winter snowfall blocks the road

Sinthan Top serves as a base camp for treks to alpine lakes—such as the Four Springs at Choharnag—and offers activities ranging from camping, nature walks, and paragliding to snow-based pastimes like skiing and snowboarding The alpine meadows of Sinthan Maidan, 24 km before the summit, host seasonal shepherds and are ideal for horse riding and picnicking

While no permanent settlements exist at the summit, local shepherds and occasional food stalls provide basic amenities. Accommodation is available in nearby Kokernag and Daksum, including forest huts and JKTDC options

Recently, Sinthan Top has grown in popularity—over 2 lakh tourists visited between March and June 2024 However, this surge has raised environmental concerns such as plastic and carbon pollution, prompting efforts to manage tourist impact

In summary, Sinthan Top is a pristine Himalayan gem—offering dramatic scenery, adventurous routes, seasonal snow, and solitude. Best visited between May and September, it remains an offbeat alternative to Kashmir’s mainstream hill stations, perfect for eco-conscious travelers and...
