Dalma Hill Top, situated within the Dalma Wildlife Sanctuary near Jamshedpur in Jharkhand, is a remarkable destination that combines natural beauty, wildlife, adventure, and spiritual significance. Located roughly 100 kilometers from Ranchi and about 15 kilometers from Jamshedpur, Dalma Hills rise to a height of around 915 meters above sea level, offering breathtaking vistas and a rich ecological experience.

The Dalma Wildlife Sanctuary spans approximately 195 square kilometers, stretching across the East Singhbhum and Saraikela-Kharsawan districts. The sanctuary is renowned for its dense forests categorized under "Dry Peninsular Sal" and "Northern Dry Mixed Deciduous Forest," which come alive with lush foliage during the monsoon. Dalma Hill Top itself is known for its altitude, cooler temperatures, and panoramic views of the surrounding hills and valleys, making it a favored spot for nature lovers, trekkers, and photographers.

One of the sanctuary's major attractions is its significant population of Indian elephants, which migrate here especially during the summer months for water and shade. Visitors often have the chance to spot these majestic creatures roaming freely, alongside other wildlife such as sloth bears, Indian giant squirrels, pangolins, Indian grey wolves, and numerous bird species including jungle fowl and Indian grey hornbill. The sanctuary also holds historical importance due to the occasional presence of tigers, adding to its allure for wildlife enthusiasts.

Dalma Hill Top also has cultural and spiritual significance. It houses a notable Shiva temple and a cave, both of which are considered sacred by local communities. Legend speaks of "Dalma Mai," a revered local goddess believed to be a tribal girl who entered the cave and disappeared, creating a spiritual aura around the hilltop. Each year, a vibrant festival takes place in the month of Asarh (June-July) attracting locals who come to pay homage to Dalma Mai. This blend of nature, wildlife, and spirituality makes Dalma Hill Top an intriguing and enriching place to visit.

In addition to wildlife viewing and spiritual visits, Dalma Hill Top offers excellent opportunities for adventure activities such as trekking and rock climbing. The terrain presents moderate to challenging trails that take hikers through forests, rocky outcrops, and hillsides lush with indigenous flora like mahua, jamun, neem, bamboo, and sal trees. The climate remains relatively pleasant throughout the year, with the winter months being the most favorable for outdoor exploration.

Facilities around Dalma Hill Top include a forest rest house and designated camping areas, though visitors are advised to plan accommodations in advance as amenities can be basic. Due to water scarcity, staying overnight at the rest house requires prior permission and arrangements, which may involve bringing your own supplies or services provided by forest staff.

Overall, Dalma Hill Top within the Dalma Wildlife Sanctuary provides a captivating mix of natural splendor, wildlife encounters, cultural experiences, and adventure. It is an ideal destination for travelers seeking peace, pristine environments, and a touch of wilderness near the industrial city of Jamshedpur. Whether you come for the elephants, the scenic views, or the spiritual ambiance, Dalma Hill Top leaves an unforgettable impression of Jharkhand’s rich ecological and...

This is an exclusive Wildlife Scantuary for ASIATIC ELEPHANTS. If you are a nature, wildlife and adventure lover, this place is a must visit. You can also find a good place to start a journey to discover yourself. One can get a scenic view of the whole town Jamshedpur as well as the NH33 highway and Patamda area from here. It is to be noted very well that if you are coming here then totally depend on yourself for fooding and hydration. Yeah one can get potable drinking water in Pindrabera as well as on the Hill Top. Somehow one can get bhog also, that too on the hill top temple. There is a well on the hill top.... Just imagine? Monkeys are sure to be taken care of. In my recent visit, I got to know that the elephants in winter season goes to nearby jungles of Bengal due to fooding concerns while in the summers they returned back to the Jungle for a colder environment and water. There is no then pitched roads here one can get concrete roads. Probably that is also broken in some places. Two wheelers can be taken up there easily but with a good riding skill. Four wheelers can be taken there too,but be sure about the Braking system and Fuel concerns. There is an option of lodging, If one wants to stay at night on the Hill Top. It is sure that one cannot get professional lodging services here. Yeah... One can visit DALMA WLS anytime they want to. Winters are awesome , Monsoon is a great time to discover wildlife , and Summers here is experienced very well.... Cool and calm. Significantly there are 3 routes to come Up via vehicle to the Hill Top. The most suitable route is from the main entrance from NH33. Another route is from the Tata Patamda Road, which is a bit sturdy with no concrete roads at all. Be sure not to mess with Wildlife here, especially the Monkeys! The most popular reason to visit this place is the Temples on the Hill Top. Pilgrims from various places on Mahashivratri crowd up the Hill Top making the whole place look like a Mela. And yes this is a great place for trekking. Pilgrims often opt to trek to the Hill Top offering serious dedication towards The God. I personally feel awesome here. I have been here probably 5 times, all by road. Two times on Motor Bike and the other two time on My Cycle. Yeah......, Cycling is much tougher here!, but one would enjoy it very much because of his presence amid the silent forest with the sounds of Birds, flowing water streams, and the warm Sunshine in some places. There are many places to observe wildlife here, if you want. And..., there is A Police Camp on the hill top for local concers, and criminal offences.

HAVE A GREAT TIME...

If you love nature this is the route you should take. Journey itself is so beautiful and mesmerizing. Roads are good but adviced to go slow to avoid accidents. Safety is a issue. No population on the way. Restroom facilities not available so help yourself in nature's lap😂. On the top there is a temple so you should maintain the decorum if going with your friends. Would be nice if they had some eatery on the way like Maggie point on North. Dalma hills is habitat of many wild animals like elephants, deer, bear, peacock, squirrel etc. We saw elephants and heard many birds. Bird watchers will have great time exploring. On the top , visibility was very low so can't share the view but it must be as mesmerizing as the road. Advised to go early morning to avoid crowd and cars on the way. Difficult to drive for 2 way 4 wheelers. For 2 wheelers be prepared for muddy road in rainy season. Ticket counter at the entrance. Saw sign board for museum and deer park but couldn't explore. If you have time you can visit.

Crowd there mainly were going for temple so if you go with the mood of enjoyment with friends. It will be awkward and you will end up disturbing others. Place is beautiful. When we went it was all fog and the visibility was very low. We went early morning this avoided cars on way. Difficult road for 2 ways 4 wheelers. Though I missed some dhabas Or small eatery like maggi point or something it would be nice. Also there should be restroom facilities and some checkpoint on the way..so anyone can contact in case of emergency. We saw 2elephants on the way... But i dont think they were wild. Other than that we didn't see anything.. Reason can be a rainy day. But the route was beautiful. Roads are good.. Can be improved if paid attention. One must visit at least once.

"Exploring Dalma Wildlife Sanctuary has been a delightful experience for us. Located just 10 km from the vibrant city of Jamshedpur, in the serene state of Jharkhand, this sanctuary offers a tranquil escape into nature. Our trekking journey through the sanctuary's trails has been invigorating and refreshing. The picturesque hillscapes and breathtaking views have left us in awe of nature's beauty. At the summit, we were greeted by three charming temples: Dalma Mata Temple, dedicated to the divine mother; a serene Lord Shiva Temple; and a serene Hanuman Mandir, each adding a spiritual dimension to our adventure. Overall, Dalma Wildlife Sanctuary is a must-visit destination for nature lovers and spiritual seekers alike."
