I Liked this place. It's a great place to visit, especially during winters. Summers are not that comfortable for this place. I went there with my friends. We enjoyed a lot. The beauty of this place is amazing. The landscape is pretty good. You can visit both sides of the dam. There are various water sports available in the water-filled part. You will surely enjoy that. On the other side, you have to descend downwards to get to the river bed, where you can also get a breathtaking view (Be cautious when the dam releases water. Although there are guards, still be careful). There are small hills on one side of the river. The locals have created small trekking pathways in which you can experience trekking. If you successfully reach the top point of any of the hill by trekking, you will get a magnificent view of the landscape. Children and old people may face difficulty to climb the hill. The area is suitable mainly for tourists of West Bengal, Jharkhand, Orissa, and Bihar. Good hotels are not available nearby. Generally, people don't stay here. Usually, people come here for sightseeing. We went there from Bolpur, Santiniketan. We had booked a car, which is easily available near the Bolpur railway station. It took around Rs. 2000. Some nearby places are: Deoghar - 98 km, Santiniketan - 75 km, Dumka - 32 km Ideal time to visit: 10 am - 4 pm

I would like to provide you some useful info regarding Masanjore Trip. 1. If you're aiming to relax n enjoy natural beauty, then don't visit Masanjor Dam on picnic season ( Dec 20 - Feb 10) as the place is over crowded and it might not provide you a smooth experience. 2. If you have no issues with crowd then, there are hell lot of places to camp but preferably if you visit beside the Lake side. It's pretty near the foot walkway Dam bridge. 3. Along with Dam view, you may opt in for other adventures and experience like hill hiking, boating, shopping etc. 4. Accommodation/hotels are available. You have to book the resorts. But better if you go with a day break and own arrangements of food. 5. Ample parking space available both paid and non paid. Paid parking is hilarious, some guy will come to you and ask for money if you park your vehicle downside the main road, beside the Dam Gate. 6. Control Room garden is there but most of the times in year it's closed for tourists. Thats all. Happy Exploration 😊. Masanjor Dam is located at Masanjor, bordering Birbhum, near Dumkar in the Indian state of Jharkhand. This hydroelectric power station was built with a dam on the Mayurakshi river. Masanjor Dam (also known as Canada Dam) was built in 1955. It is known as a famous picnic spot and nature center in West Bengal and Jharkhand for its beautiful surroundings surrounded by lush green hills and mighty waters! Masanjo is about 30 km south of Dumka in Jharkhand. Suitable place to visit. By road, Masanjor Bakreshwar is 58 km, Santhia 50 km, Tarapith about 70 km and Deoghar (98 km) away. The beautiful gardens on the low hills and the two beautiful post-bungalows on the banks of the river add to its beauty. WHERE U STAY : The Youth Hostel and Mayurakshi Bhavan Bungalows and the Visiting Bungalows are nice and comfortable accommodation for the tourists in the rural environment ....! NB: Do not use use or throw bottles or plastic packet while traveling and never pollute the environment. It is our duty to always respect the local people and protect the animals, birds, other animals and plants.

Ok so first of all this place is AMAZING. This place has both river and small mountains. Main attraction is the Dam situated on Mayurakshi river. Dam is surrounded by multiple mountains. Actually This place is situated at the border of West Bengal and Jharkhand. Although it is considered to be in jharkhand. For a one day tour you can enjoy so many things. Mountain trekking, boating etc.. If you wanna stay for a day there has a resort called Mayurakshi Resort is a great option. Fare is reasonable. For boat there is 2 option. For speed boat per head 80 and for Big boat per head 60. There are some islands where you can only go by the big boat. Don't forget to climb mountains, it will be a great fun. You can go there by bus, go to suri, then you can go there by local or state bus both, but reserve car is the best option cause you will get more time to explore. Also after 4pm, getting a bus ride is uncertain in this area. For picnic this is a great place to go. Make sure to carry camera and extra storage because this place is gonna cause a hell lot of photos and videos. Have Fun.
