Perched on twin hills by the Mahanadi, Nilamadhav Temple in Kantilo is a sacred blend of history, legend, and natural beauty. According to Odia tradition, this is where the Sabara chief Vishvavasu worshipped the blue-hued Nilamadhav—considered the origin of today’s Jagannath dev whom we worship in Puri...Beside the main shrine stands the Siddheśwar Shiva temple, famous for its liṅga that is believed to tilt subtly north or south with the sun’s shift during Uttarayan and Dakshinayan—a living marvel... Another ancient Shiva liṅga here is revered for washing away sins committed unknowingly, especially when worship follows a purifying dip in the Mahanadi below... The temple offers beautiful river views, cool breezes, and a tranquil atmosphere on ordinary days, while festivals like Magha Saptami and Pausa Purnima fill it with colour and devotion...A must-visit for those who seek both spiritual depth and scenic charm...

Even though it is a very famous temple no development has been taken in and around the place due to lack of proper maintenance and supervision . No eatary is available around the temple . Before Lord Jagannath appearing in Puri in the present from, He was being worshipped as Nilamadhav at Kantilo by Sabara (kind of Aborigines) King Viswavasu. On the bank of Mahanadi a beautiful place to visit. For fifty years of Lord Brahma's life time He is worshipped as Nilamadhav and for the next fifty years as Jagannath in Puri.Sri Nilamadhava Temple is very old and Lord Vishnu temple which is near to the bank of Mahanadi river. It is present near to the twin hills with a surrounding forest. One thing that the priest are so much greedy they will irritate you asking money. During the Prasad seban(lunch)they divide the people who is giving more money and they will give extra items which is more disappointed because Prasad is same for everyone. Except that everything is good. Boating is available there.Amazing location with scenic view of the mountain on the bank of Mahanadi River. A must visit place. Approx 92 km from Bhubaneswar.Nilmadhab Temple is a hidden gem that offers a captivating blend of spirituality and cultural heritage. The serene atmosphere and stunning architecture make it a must-visit. The intricate carvings on the temple walls are a testament to the craftsmanship of ancient times. The surroundings are peaceful, allowing for a truly reflective experience. The temple staff are very welcoming and maintain the premises impeccably. Additionally, the nearby river adds to the tranquility, providing a perfect backdrop for meditation and relaxation. Highly recommended for anyone seeking a serene and culturally enriching experience.Reached the place with so many complications. No proper arrangements for water or food. No parking spaces. All the behaviour of staff and priests is so bad. Everyone is in the aim of looting people. The temple is now fully renovated, but the staff behaviour should be improved.Great ambience. Beware of pandas. The moment you come out of vehicle and speak in Hindi, they will follow you. Very beautiful Temple located on the banks of Mahanadi river. Climb 50 steps to reach this temple. Please visit this...

You can call it the heaven of nature & God lovers. Even if you don't believe in God, you must visit this place, its so beautiful, you won't regret your decision. Even I don't believe in God but I went there in bike trip. I enjoyed the journey, and the destination is damn beautiful. The temple situated on top of a hill. Beside the temple the Mahanadi River just passes away. The place surrounded by Hills, trees, and one half of the surrounding by the river, its a damn beautiful place. As I said I don't believe in God but I went to explore the place and I absolutely loved it. Old age people may find it difficult to climb up the stairs, but for the mid age and the younger ones it would proof to be a great spot.

Disclaimer :- when you enter the 200-300 meters surrounding of the temple, you're already in the peripherals of the temple, and you'll see pandits all around going here and there. You may not have seem them but there having there eyes on you like a target. When you're about to enter the temple, suddenly you'll see few pandits from nowhere surround you and treat you like a superstar. Of course anyone would like it, and that's the point where you stuck my Friend. They will take you along with them throughout the temple. Will do some simple rituals, speak out some chants, will give some paduka to have, apply sindura on your forehead, and there you go....give them 100 or even more. You're already served without your own will, and consent, and now you're going to pay for it. Even if you'll say I don't have change, don't worry they're rich enuff to give you change, but you can't leave them epty handed. So keep this thing in mind...it would be good for you. I knew this thing before so I didn't fall of their trick, I simply denied for all those rituals what they're about to do for me. Even after that I had to give them few rupees but that was okay, quite minimal. You must take care of this. Except this...the place is Soooo beautiful that even this problem is nothing in front of that. I'm upto visit this place again....

I am delighted to have had the opportunity to visit the extraordinary Nilamadhaba Temple. This ancient temple, nestled amidst the lush greenery of its surroundings, exudes an aura of tranquility and spirituality that is truly unparalleled. As I stepped foot into the temple premises, I was immediately captivated by its grandeur and the sense of reverence that permeated the air.

The architecture of the Nilamadhaba Temple is a testament to the rich cultural heritage of the region. The intricate carvings on the walls and pillars depict mythological stories and divine beings, showcasing the exceptional craftsmanship of the artisans who built this magnificent structure. Every nook and cranny of the temple seemed to hold a hidden treasure, inviting me to explore further and unravel the secrets of its past.

Inside the temple, I was greeted by the soothing chants of the priests and the fragrance of incense, creating an atmosphere of serenity and devotion. The main sanctum, adorned with vibrant flowers and adorned with precious jewels, housed the divine idol of Lord Nilamadhaba, the presiding deity of the temple. The sight of the deity, resplendent in all its glory, filled my heart with a sense of awe and reverence.

As I participated in the rituals and observed the devotees offering their prayers, I couldn't help but feel a deep sense of peace and spiritual connection. The energy within the temple was palpable, as if the divine presence itself was embracing each and every visitor with its benevolence. It was a humbling experience, reminding me of the power and beauty of faith.

The joyous faces of the devotees further enriched my visit, leaving an indelible mark on my memory. The experience had touched my soul and left me with a renewed sense of purpose and gratitude. I am truly grateful for the opportunity to have visited this extraordinary temple and to have been a part of its divine aura. The Nilamadhaba Temple will forever hold a special place in my heart, and I hope to return one day to bask in its divine...
