The drive was heavenly with dense forest and beautiful landscape. This could be tiring at times , one needs to drive with a lot of caution or take a bus or train. We get an overwhelming feeling of achievement on entering the temple premises, located in the lap of Western ghats, surrounded by Coffee/Tea plantations, this temple is a beauty. The Idol of Goddess Annapoorneshwari is very beautifully adorned with precious gems and jewellery. The mere sight of goddess removes all your insecurities and tiredness, one feels rejuvenated after the darshana. This is one of the very few well maintained temples I have visited. Food is provided by the temple authorities at specific timings for free. In the end I can only say that it was the divine call of Goddess which made me do the journey that I was least considering and in return was blessed with heavenly feeling and boundless energy. I strongly recommend this journey and if possible stay at Horanadu at least for a day. In most of the temples, they provide lunch as prasadam to the public. We had the food (rice, sambhar, rasam, curd, payasam). Don’t miss this food which is very good in taste & for the chill climate, they get the hot food. Climate varies drastically here. Sun shines, one could see mist turf in next 20-30 mins. Overall chilly climate. While visiting take necessary tablets, medicine, cold cream etc.., Remember we have cross many hills, up & down to reach this place, so prefer to take light food. A must visit temple to get the blessings of goddess & it's serenity

Review: Adhishakthyathmaka Shri Annapurneshwari Devi Temple - Horanadu

Rating: ⭐⭐⭐⭐ (4/5)

My visit to the Adhishakthyathmaka Shri Annapurneshwari Devi Temple in Horanadu was an unforgettable and spiritually uplifting experience. This renowned temple, dedicated to Goddess Annapurneshwari, radiates an aura of devotion and serenity that touches the soul.

The temple's location amidst the lush greenery of the Western Ghats adds to its charm and creates a tranquil environment. As I entered the temple premises, I was greeted by the soothing sounds of devotional hymns and the fragrance of incense, instantly creating a sense of peace and reverence.

The architecture of the Adhishakthyathmaka Shri Annapurneshwari Devi Temple is remarkable. The intricate carvings, elaborate gopuram (tower), and exquisite sculptures showcase the fine craftsmanship and attention to detail. It is evident that the temple has been designed to inspire devotion and reflect the rich cultural heritage of the region.

The main deity, Goddess Annapurneshwari, is believed to be the bestower of food and nourishment. Devotees offer their prayers and seek her blessings for sustenance and abundance in their lives. The priests and temple staff are well-versed in the temple's rituals and are always ready to assist and guide visitors with utmost warmth and kindness.

One of the highlights of my visit was the Annadana (food offering) program conducted by the temple. The temple serves free meals to all devotees, irrespective of caste or creed, reinforcing the spirit of inclusivity and service. The prasadam (blessed food) is not only delicious but also prepared with utmost devotion and hygiene.

The temple also houses other shrines dedicated to various deities, providing a comprehensive spiritual experience. The ambiance inside these sanctums is serene, and the melodious chants and hymns create a profound atmosphere of devotion.

The management of the temple deserves appreciation for their impeccable maintenance and cleanliness. The temple premises were immaculate, and the surroundings were well-maintained. The facilities provided for devotees, including restrooms and seating areas, were also commendable.

In conclusion, the Adhishakthyathmaka Shri Annapurneshwari Devi Temple in Horanadu is a place of great spiritual significance and an embodiment of divinity. The beautiful architecture, serene atmosphere, devoted staff, and the Annadana program all contribute to a profound and enriching experience. I highly recommend a visit to this temple to seek the blessings of Goddess Annapurneshwari and to immerse oneself in the spiritual aura that...

Annapoorani is the Goddess who provides nourishment to all. The original temple dedicated to Goddess Annapoorani is at Kasi (Varanasi). She is depicted with a bowl of Annam (food) in her left hand a ladle filled with food in her right hand. Lord Siva is sometimes depicted with a bowl ready to receive food from Sakthi - Annapoorani. This depiction does not mean that Siva has been humbled as a beggar and Sakthi is the powerful provider. Hinduism is very symbolic. Several basic truths are revealed in each picturisation. Annapoorani is shown with a bowl in the left hand full of food and a laden spoon in the right hand. The full bowl shows that she has abundant supply, but what is more significant is that she has a laden spoon showing that she is always willing and ever ready to serve. All-natural flow of energy is from a higher level to a lower level. The receiving hand of Siva is therefore shown lower, accepting the Sakthi for fruitful application. Also, the receiver should be aware of his needs to go and seek it at the right place. The outstretched arms mean he is ready to accept and the bowl indicates that he has the means to collect and store so that the Sakthi he receives will not be wasted. When we say Brahma is the God of creation, Vishnu the God of protection and Siva the God of destruction, it does not really mean that Brahma is busy only when he initially creates the world and Vishnu only when he takes his avatars to protect or Siva only when he destroys at the end. There is no real beginning or end. The three forces are ever active, and ever present. And when it is said Siva is the Lord of destruction, it means he is ready to destroy evil and the unwanted (not the destruction of the world), getting matter ready for the process of creation and in this job Siva and Sakthi work hand in hand. Horanadu on the western ghats, situated 100 kms south-west of Chikmagalur on the banks of the river Bhadra is a place of abundant natural beauty with thick vegetation. The temple for Goddess Annapoorneshwari in Horanadu, Adi-Shaktyatmaka Shree Annapoorneshwari is believed to have been built originally by sage Agasthya. For the past 400 years, the temple is now being maintained by successive members of a family who have been instrumental in renovating the temple and performing the rites. The Goddess Annapoorneshwari is seen in a standing posture on a peeta with Shanku, Chakra, Sri Chakra and Devi Gayathri in her four hands. The uniqueness of this temple is that all visiting devotees are provided with food (Breakfast, Lunch and Dinner) and sleeping facility in the temple premises. A MUST VISIT PLACE...
