Driving through the Agumbe Ghat road on our way to Sringeri was an unforgettable experience — a journey that felt like stepping into a living postcard. The narrow hill road is filled with deep, steep curves that demand a slow and careful pace, especially during peak hours when traffic can get heavy, as it did during our visit. But despite the delays, every moment spent winding through the lush greenery was worth it.
As we ascended, the view transformed into a surreal landscape of thick forests, mist-kissed hilltops, and cloud-wrapped valleys. It felt like we were climbing into the sky, with each bend revealing something even more magical than the last. There’s something deeply calming about being surrounded by such untouched natural beauty — the kind that makes you roll down your window just to breathe in the fresh, earthy air.
The road, though a bit challenging, was well-maintained, and the overall cleanliness of the surroundings added to the charm. The occasional stop in traffic gave us time to soak in the scenery, take a few pictures, and appreciate the calm that’s so rare in city life.
If you're heading toward Sringeri or just exploring the Western Ghats, Agumbe Ghat is more than just a road — it's an experience. Just be prepared for a slow journey, and trust me, you won’t want to rush it anyway.

The latest updates indicate that the district administration has restricted heavy vehicle traffic on the Agumbe Ghati section of National Highway 169A from June 15 to September 30, 2025, allowing only light vehicles to ply through the area. This decision has been taken as a precautionary measure to prevent accidents and ensure public safety, given the increased risk of landslides and road damage during the monsoon season.
