Chelvara Falls ONLY = 2 STAR, & Chomakundu Hills = 3 STAR, (Vijarpet, Coorg).
CHELAVARA WATERFALL: • A natural waterfall formed by small streams on the tributary of Kaveri (near Cheyyandane village – Google gives the correct location) {16 km from Virajpet}. • This Beautiful and scenic waterfall and surrounding make a huge gift by mother nature and is a part of a private property! • Chomakundu (Separately Reviewed) is another mountain Area full of nature (On the way) with many Mini-Trekking options (Safer) • HONESTLY speaking only to visit the Chelavara Falls not very worth (there is nothing else to see), as we are not allowed to reach the water, as it is dangerous (Unfortunately, many human lives were lost here). Chelavara Falla is said to be 100 Feet deep, with the water flow having high suction, where even expert swimmers can lose their control. Overall, Abbey Fall is much better! • We suggest to make the trip more enjoyable, to visit (Bike reaches almost the 2nd & the top peak) KABBE HILLS (VIEW POINT) which is roughly 2 KMs from here. (Separately reviewed) • We passed two Resorts (Coorg Summer Palace & “Now or Never Land”) to reach Chelavara Falls • One can see the falls after walking after walking a few meters (into the forest) from the parking. • Kindly respect the “Danger signs Boards”- they are for our safety! • Isolated place – NO FOOD or water (No proper Restaurants, particularly for Vegies). • Some stretch of the road also is poor (Accept it as 1 Hr 30...
Read moreThis place is on way to Tamara and the odyssey resort . You can search in google and this place is away from city but must visit for peace and falls view. I visited in weekdays and early Morning time . There will be no time limit but not recommended after 6pm since it’s surrounded by forest and coffee plantation and no people and no light area. The way is completely filled with estates and lush green and this falls will be visible to road . Kindly stop when you see board about falls because the way to falls will start here with small walking path .google shows top way which is not needed as it won’t have any falls view and waste of time . It’s a small trucking for about 5-10mints and road is small and wet due to monsoon rain and near by water moisture .be careful while trucking and be aware of leech’s. We can’t go near falls and play in water as lot of deaths happened due to slipping on stone issue in past but you will go very near to falls and view is damn good. In weekends there will b no people so you can take good picks and enjoy some lonely no crowd peace time.
No parking charge no entry free since nobody will be there but kindly be careful as there won’t be anyone around , you will be solely responsible for...
Read moreNestled just off the Virajpet–Talacauvery road, this waterfall offers a picturesque 150‑ft drop over a tortoise‑shaped rock into a deep, tranquil pool amid coffee plantations. It’s a lovely spot for nature lovers and photographers. The short ~200 m walk from the parking area takes about 10 minutes and provides a peaceful stroll through lush greenery.
Tips for visitors: • Best visited during or just after the monsoon when the flow is strongest and the surroundings are most vibrant. • Wear sturdy, grippy footwear—paths and rocks can get very slippery.
A few drawbacks: • There are no facilities (restaurants, toilets), so bring along water and snacks. • Roads leading to the falls are narrow and rough; local taxis or experienced drivers are recommended.
⚠️ Safety alert: The pool at the base is approximately 100 ft deep with strong currents. Sadly, multiple fatalities have occurred here. All warning signs are serious—do not attempt to swim or go near the water’s edge.
