Gudnapura Lake — Attraction in Karnataka

It was called 'Guddada tataka'which means a tank at the Hilltop. Raja Ravivarma built A Mammoth found spreading over 165 acres during 5th A.C. he used to celebrate the spring season here. Nearby there are sculptures which tell the history to those who are interested in historical studies. The first Kannada inscription is the speciality of the place the tank reviews the history of water supply during Kadamba dynasty it is a tank very near to Banavasi the visitors can enjoy the beauty of the tank along with worshipping Bangareshwara temple in the midst of the tank Shivratri is a holy day for the devotees who come here to worship...

Lovely place for sunset and views ,this place has historic background..it was ruled by Kadamba's....On the bank of this lake , God Ishwara's temple is there , people has strong belief that , whatever they wishe here it will come true ..Every year On 'Shivaratri' people celebrate gundnapura fair..This lake is the source for sourounding agricultural fields, and used by village people ,animals ...Though the lake has been maintained very well .. Witness the sunset ,you will really love it You will get bus from sirsi and banavasi to reach here ,from Gundnapura bus stop hardly 300 meter away .. You can also visit Banavasi...

Good place to Stop by for a few minutes if you are en route to or from Banavasi temple especially during sunset. The whole temple premises was glowing with golden yellow for a few minutes. There was no one as the temple was closed and it was very quiet and peaceful. The temple premises are always open I believe. one can even reach the waters of the lake with out going inside the temple...
