This was a get away quick trip with my spouse. We planned this trip at one shot after browsing through several places in and around Bengaluru to visit for a day or two. We found a decent home-stay at Kurchi, near Shrimangala. It was named "Comfy Home Stay", review shared seperately. To get here from Bengaluru, follow the Ramanagara-Mandya-Mysuru-Heggadadevanakote-Nagarahole-Kutta-Kurchi. The road is a mix of smooth and rough as you will enter forest zone here. If you do not like it, you can take the Ramanagara-Mandya-Mysuru-Hunsur-Ponampet-Shrimangala-Kurchi route. Both are approx 275-290 kms. We drove our own car via Nagarahole forest. It was amazing as we were able to get a bone chilling experience of wild animals around us. You will be given an entry slip by the forest ranger. You will have two hours stipulated time to drive inside the forest zone of around 60 kms. We managed that as we didn't stop and you are not allowed to stop as forest rangers will be roaming around the forest all the time who are strict as it is a protected zone. This home stay was located nearby to Nagarhole at Kurchi. The home stay is run by very nice elderly couple and is easily accessible as it is located nearby the main road, state highway 89, connecting to Tata Tea estate and one end and Irpu falls at the other end. You definitely need your own car or ride as no local transport is available even if you are willing to pay there. You will find plenty of coffee estates around, water falls, Nagarahole wildlife and Kodagu if you drive a little further. There is petrol bunk nearby, local restaurants offering great food both vegetarian and non-vegetarian Kodagu style food, medical shops and super markets too! We were lucky to have found this home stay thanks to AirBnB at a much cheaper price for two days. We could save that money to spend for the rest of the trip easily for all the spots wee visited including fuel. The jungle safari bus for Nagarahole forest visit will leave very early at 6-6:15 AM, so you have to be there present before that to buy your ticket. Please take the Government jungle safari bus itself as it is much cheaper and has wide windows to capture your shots easily from your camera. No point in taking a Jeep Safari as cost is high and experience is the same. We spotted many animals including elephant, wild boar, wild peahen, peacock, a lots of deer, crocodiles, tortoise, Many variety of birds, bison, wild giant squirrel and many others in a span of 2 hours. The guides are really good and professional. Sometime you spot the animals and sometimes they spot and shows you there. Irpu falls is a good one again as you have to climb up to the falls zone all by yourself. The stairs are built to experience forest zone while you climb up and you will see a variety of butterflies, birds, chameleons and even snakes!! So be careful not to enter the sideways of the climb zone even to click a snap or to get a flower there as it is guarded by high electricity fence all around. Tata tea estate if another spot which you can drive in the early morning from here. You will see a mesmerizing view of the estate and fog all round. The outlet there also offers raw blend of tea powder at a nominal cost. Overall a great experience being first...

Please note that the waterfall closes promptly at 5 PM, and there are vigilant security officials at the entrance who won't permit entry ๐ซ beyond that time. There's an admission fee ๐ฐ of approximately Rs. 100-200 per person.
Upon reaching the top, you won't be at the summit of the mountain ๐ where the waterfall ๐ originates, but you'll have a close-up view of the waterfall itself. The waterfall is roughly 500-600 meters from the main entrance, requiring a walk to the stairs and a climb ๐ช of around 200-500 steps to reach the top. Families๐ช can often be seen enjoying the cascading waters, and it's recommended to ascend to the top for the best views, although some visitors find spots to sit along the way.
At the waterfall's base, before the entrance, you'll find 4-5 small shops ๐๏ธ where you can grab a snack ๐ฅ before or after your visit. Additionally, there is a changing room next to the shops, with a nominal fee of around Rs. 10 ๐ต for changing or Rs. 5 for restroom use. There are changing rooms inside the main gate of the waterfall as well but you may not find them in best condition.
Regarding cleanliness ๐งน, the area is relatively clean, although locating a dustbin ๐ฎ for disposing of waste can be a challenge. Changing rooms are available but may raise concerns about hygiene ๐งผ, as they are exclusively for women ๐. Safety is a priority, with security ๐ฎ personnel stationed at various points along the path.
At the top, you'll find seating ๐ช, benches, and great photo opportunities. The climb is not particularly strenuous, making it suitable for beginners and children.
