Good weekend getaway from Bengaluru & good spot for photography. You might like this place only if you are a nature lover, have interest in photography and bird watching. About 100kms from Bangalore, Jayamangali Blackbuck Reserve is an open forest where you can drive around without any restrictions. But please do not disturb the wild & keep the environment free from plastics & any other wastes. Blackbucks, Deers, Wild boar, variety of birds are some of the spottings which might happen. Reach the place by 6am or be there by evening. Spend time. Go around. You'll be lucky to spot blackbucks. In my next visit there, I may plan to reach the place by 3pm, might stay in the forest IB (need to get permission), next morning you can again go around the reserve before bidding goodbyes. Carry enough food, water coz you'll not get anything there. Google maps till Kodigenahalli is correct. Post that, it might confuse a bit. After Kodigenahalli, take left, go down, you'll find a bridge. Take a left again after the bridge. That road will lead you to a 3 way junction. At the junction take left again & that would lead you to Jayamangali Blackbuck Reserve. We were lucky to spot some blackbucks, deers and some birds. If time permits you can also go on wine tour, which is nearby to the reserve. Ensure you have enough fuel in...
Read moreThe place is nice getaway for one day, for nature and wildlife lovers. This is actually a Blackbuck conservation center. Reaching there is quite a bit of task since the last 10 kms of the road is awfully bad. There has been no maintainance at all and in some places you will not find a road at all. Took the Bangalore - Neelamangala - Madhugiri route, the road is really great all throughout except the last 10kms. It is a calm and blissfull place. There were no one apart from us. Had to ask locals about the place because google maps was showing wrong directions. One tip for future visitors - Ask for maidenahalli forest while asking directions from the locals, since many of them doesn't know the name Jayamangali. Once inside were very lucky to see around 10 number of black bucks in different places. Apart from them, spotted the winter migrant Montagu's Harrier. The other species that we spotted are Black Winged kite, Richard's pipit, purple sunbird, bay backed shrike, short tailed shrike, bush lark, large grey babbler. Would recommend this place definitely for all...

We had started early morning to this place and reached this place at around 6am which I would tell is the best and peaceful time to visit. I witnessed sunset along with birds chirping at background which was such an pleasant experience for me. This places feels like an heaven for wildlife enthusiasts and wildlife photographers. We spotted many black bucks as we visited early morning it was spred over a lot of place. The many advantage of this place is you could take your vehicle to every corner of this place. There is no entry fees to this place and no problem with parking as well.
