Kanakadasa palace might have been built in the remembrance of the famous devotee and great poet. Feels like the palace is on top of a small flat hillock as I had to take the steps to reach the palace. The center of the stairs has a waterfall step. Either side of the stairs at the top has 2 canons. On the fort there were statues of drummers and honkers. In front of the gate were 2 statues of soldier guards. Footwear was not allowed inside the palace. As you enter you can see a bigger than man size statue of Kanakadasa sitting and writing poems. The hall and side rooms have a lot of information about the poet written under the paintings and carved framed figurine. It also has a wedding hall kind of space behind the Kanakadasa statue. It had a center stage or a Mantap for wedding formalities. There is a stairway to the terrace in one of the side rooms and from there you can also see the wedding hall from the top like a balcony in the theatre. The open terrace was parched because of rain and was slippery. I almost slipped while running back to shelter when it started to rain. They also play 3D hologram history of Kanakadasa and the minimum audience required is 15. We couldn't see as the person incharge of it left the place early by 5pm as it was a Sunday evening and there wasn't much of visitors plus it was raining too. The surrounding has lush green lawn beautifully maintained. It also has a canteen but was closed when we went there. It has ample parking space for buses, cars and bikes. Visit duration: 30 minutes Entry ticket as Aug 2024: ₹20 for adults and ₹10 for children.

Kanakadasa Palace, located in Baada village, Shiggaon Taluk, Haveri District, is a historically significant site associated with the renowned saint and poet Kanakadasa. This place holds great cultural and spiritual importance, as it is believed to be the birthplace and residence of Kanakadasa, who was a prominent figure in the Bhakti movement and Kannada literature. Baada village is famous for its connection to Kanakadasa, and it is considered a holy pilgrimage site for his followers. Although the palace structure has changed over time, the area still hosts religious and cultural events related to Kanakadasa's life and teachings. Visitors to the area can experience a spiritual journey, connecting with the heritage and contributions of the saint.

Kanaka Dasa was a poet, musician and composer from Karnataka. He is known for his Keertanas and Ugabhoga, compositions in the Kannada language for Carnatic music. His palace is built by Karnataka Government in his memory. You can see many paintings and portraits in palace, every painting and portraits says his story how he become kanakadasa and we find many poems of him. We will find life's story in this place. Every kannadig should visit this place once. And it's good for kids too they have huge places to play. Cold and Calm and very clean and well maintained place. It's good for one day trip.

It's a wonderful experience...to me, to go there and that palace was built by the plane of old palace of Kanaka daas and also starting we get a statue of "Veerappa naayaka"... riding a horse(don't get confused ha it's another name of kanak daas) and before that you can see wonderful water dance on entrance..next the entry to palace...there you could see very strict soldiers standing both side of the entrance...🤣🤣🤣just kidding...it's a statues of Dwaarpaalakas..when you step inside the palace than you could felt that you entering to a live palace....where all characters are alive I mean king and everybody and you one of them.. And on wall of palace you can watch the biography of kanak daas but one thing which I can't satisfied is the biography which is written on walls and decorated by paintings only in Kannada they need to use atleast English...as a second language or third language...but it's ok...I'm also kannadiga and I could give you suggesting you to who don't know Kannada plz try to learn as much as and aslo...for those writings on Wall are all in kannda Ill give you one idea to read them just. Use Google translator ...🤣and ...go to the top of the palace itams also wonderful view ....thank you for...
