We visited Mandagadde Bird Sanctuary on the 2nd of May 2025 and while we didn’t spot too many birds, the experience was still quite serene and enjoyable. It’s a peaceful little spot tucked away in nature, perfect for a quiet morning or afternoon escape.
The weather was calm and pleasant, with a cool breeze that made the walk around the area relaxing. The water level was quite good, and the river surrounding the sanctuary added to the beauty of the place. Though the bird population wasn’t high during our visit—likely because it wasn’t peak season—the natural surroundings and scenic view more than made up for it.
There’s a small watchtower that offers a decent vantage point of the river and the nearby trees. It would be a great spot during the migratory season when more birds are around. Still, the lush greenery, flowing water, and tranquil atmosphere made it worth the trip.
It’s a nice location for nature lovers, even if you’re not an avid birdwatcher. If you’re planning a visit, I’d recommend checking the best time for bird sightings—usually during monsoon months or when migratory birds arrive. Otherwise, it’s still a great place for some quiet...
Read moreRead moreI was thinking this bird sanctuary would be something like ranganathittu bird sanctuary or something along those lines but was disappointed. There is a board on side of the highway that says this is the bird sanctuary and next to it is a watch tower which bears witness to time. Some of the steps leading up to the top are rusty and may become unsafe to step foot on. There are a few benches that you can sit on near the river but it is a small place, doesn’t make for a good picnic spot. There are a few trees (more like dead branches as seen from the pics) in the middle of the river where birds nest. Not sure if this was the right time to visit and see the birds or if there is a peak season to see more brids, you might want to do your homework on that. You will need a telephoto 250mm if you need good close up pics of the brids. If you plan to pass by that way, can stop for a few minutes and be on your way but wouldnt recommend going out of the way to visit this place. There are no stores or shops nearby just a km or 2 down the road, there are hotels and stores where you can get...
Utterly disappointed with the maintenance of this place. Such a great renowned place has been wasted. The government is missing a great opportunity to develop this place. They could have utilised such water body for water activities like boating, peddle boats etc. The place is ruined and is covered with grass everywhere. The steel steps to the watch tower are rusted and might break any time. There are no compounds, Name Boards, Office counters, forest guide in this place. No entrance times also specified. Thank God there is no entry fee to this place otherwise people would have been Utterly disgusted if they saw such a pathetic condition of the place. Due to the previous floods the trees were birds used to build nests are damaged. Few birds and their eggs for drowned, so there are high chances that migratory birds might not visit here. Government and Tourism department needs to take some action and bring the place to the state...
