We had been there on 29-11-2020.
We started from Base Point exactly at 06:00 AM and reached peak 07:15 AM.
We were first to reach the peak by trekking.
There were around 30+ jeeps had gone to the peak while we were trekking to Mandalpatti Peak.
We were there at the time of Sunrise. It happened at around 07:20 AM. It was crowded too much.
Around 08:15 AM we started from there and reached the Base Station at 09:00 AM.
Located at a distance of 25- 30 km from Madikeri town, Mandalpatti is a popular tourist spot. Situated on an altitude of 4050 feet Mandalpatti is Madikeriās famous hilltop. A lush green mesmerising place, Mandalpatti has recently become popular amongst tourists. The place is way from the hustle bustle and offers some seclusion and calmness. It is perfect place to go for trekking. However, to go for trekking, one is required to take entrance tickets from the authorities at the base of Mandalpatti.
Mandalpatti Mountains are part of the vast Pushpagiri reserve forest. A bumpy four-by-four Jeep ride along the circuitous road would take you to the Mandalpatti hills. Mandalpatti, in the local language, is called āMugilu-Peteā or āMugilu-Pethā meaning Market of Cloud (Mist).
It is better to equip oneself with all the required materials before starting the trek as there are no shops. Thus even the basic items like water and food need to be carried. Once at the top of the hill, tourists will be greeted with cool and gentle breeze along with huge stretch of lush greenery.
Trek Routes to Mandalpatti :
You can reach Mandalpatti via two trekking routes ā Abbi falls junction (20 km) or through Makkanduru (35 km). Abbey Falls Junction route has little bumpy elevations. Yet, it is one of the shortest ways to reach the Mandalpatti. In case you opt for Makkanduru trekking route, you will be driving through coffee plantations. All along your way, you will be stunned by the presence of numerous small waterfalls and rivulets. This route will lead your way through the Kote Abbey Falls. From the base point, it will be 5 Kms to the Mandalpatti Peak View Point. There are so many jeeps which take you to the top. They charge 1,500 Rs/head round trip. Private vehicles are also allowed to the peak. Since it is the toughest off road, only jeeps are best suited for this road.
Forest Department open the trekking gate entrance at 06:00 AM and close at 06:00 PM.

MANDALPATTI is located ( on Abbey falls road ) and about 20 kms from Madikere. Once there at the entry point there is designated 4X4 jeeps to take us up. ( we thought they don't allow us in our own vehicle just to make money )
They charge Rs 2500 for the jeep drive . Plus Rs. 200 from the forest dept and no food or plastics allowed which I thought was a great innitative
The jeep drive was spectacular. We understood why other vehicles cannot go on the bone crunching ride. Once on top we got some spectacular views. The ride made our day !. The drivers were experts and the vehicles were custom built for extra suspension to soak the pressure and take this beating, ... which we heard.
There is a small trek of about 10 minutes to the top after the jeep reaches after a 40 minute ride. We were allows to be there and experience this beautiful views for 45 minutes.
There are rest room on top which was a relief. Coming down the drive we had Tea šµ in one of the small tea shacks...to soak in the experience.
We found a lot of liter of plastic bottles which we picked and deposited in the bin. Please be more responsible ..people š
