Manikyadhara: The Sparkling Gem of Bababudangiri Hills Nestled in the lush greenery of the Bababudangiri hills in Chikmagalur district, Manikyadhara Falls is a sight to behold. As the name suggests, 'Manikyadhara' translates to 'stream of pearls', and it's not hard to see why. On a sunny day, as the sunlight pierces through the misty air and kisses the cascading water droplets, the falls transform into a radiant spectacle reminiscent of a strand of pearls glistening in the light. This natural wonder is not just a feast for the eyes but also holds cultural and spiritual significance for the locals. It's a place where nature's beauty converges with the spiritual aura of the surrounding region, making it a popular spot for both tourists and pilgrims alike. The journey to Manikyadhara is as enchanting as the destination itself. Winding paths through the coffee plantations and dense forests lead to this hidden gem, offering a refreshing escape from the hustle and bustle of city life. The cool, moist air around the falls provides a tranquil atmosphere, inviting visitors to pause and soak in the serene environment. Manikyadhara is more than just a waterfall; it's a testament to the timeless beauty of nature and the unique experiences it offers. Whether you're a nature lover, a photography enthusiast, or someone seeking a moment of peace, Manikyadhara is a destination that promises to leave you in awe with its ethereal charm. We were on a sightseeing tour before moving from Chikmagaluru to Mangalore, and that is when we came upon this waterfall, which is about 4 km from the main Baba Budangiri shrine. A scam is running here where local jeep operators will coerce you into traveling with them, saying the road is risky, etc. There is no such thing except 500m; the road is made very well of concrete, and there is no risk. You need to climb down about 40-50 stairs from the parking area to reach the actual area where the waterfall is located. The good thing about the waterfall is that the ticket price is around INR 5 per person, and the staircase is very well maintained. Plus, at the actual waterfall area, they have created a pool-like structure to hold the water and even a small changing room at one end. As you walk down the stairs, notice the entire valley and the lush green mountains around. When we reached around 11.30 a.m., the weather was pleasant, with slightly cold winds and the whole valley covered in dense fog. We could see some outlines of trees on the other side of the hill, but that was all. The views are mesmerizing, and you can experience nature at its best. At the top, there are also some shops selling snacks like Maggi and cutlets and handmade articles, which you can purchase if you want. The place is beautiful, well-maintained, and a must-visit when visiting Chikmagaluru.

It's not a actual falls how you see the water coming from the top hill like in Jog falls. This is just a small water-course dropping off from the nearby small top point. People take shower in this water and I don't recommend tourists to take shower in this water since the place is not clean. The water from where it is originating is full of garbage and filthy stuffs. Still am rating 3 stars for this only because when you put your feet into this water you feel like lost. This water is extremely cold I would say it is cooler than your refrigerator ice cubes. Yes it's true and this is one awesome experience you can have it here. Apart from that I don't think much pros you will find here because lots of people who come here are Muslim religion since their holy tomb is present over here too. There is no vegetarian restaurant available at this top,all are non-vegetarian ones. If you want to feel the water then you can visit here. Just don't take shower just dip your feet inside the water and stand there for sometime.

Jeep Scam and Looting !!! First half km road is completely pathetic and rest is fully concreted roads. I think it was constructed purposely for the sake of these Jeep drivers. Jeep drivers are looting and driving recklessly even when there is extreme fog and low visibility. . . Only views from top of the hills are beautiful, but we couldn't see any views as it was drizzling and fog. Complete waste of time and money if we didn't get any views. . . This falls is not so attractive and waste. We visited on September, the place was full of fog and mist. Choose the right time and season if you want to see some views from top. We couldn't see any views from this place. Actually Mullayanagiri and Bababudan Giri places must be explored twice or thrice depending on the season... Winter Rainy and Summer . Best time to visit after October Till March . 1 star rating for Jeep Ride 5 Star rating for Place and the views if it wasn't fog.

Manikyadhara falls which is nearby to Dattatreya Peeta is worth visiting. Wonder how always this falls have water at that top of the hill. Reaching Manikyadhara falls from Chikmagalur town will not take more than 1Hr. Even though distance is not to bear but due to hair pin bend curve and uphill it will take much time. But sure you will enjoy the beautiful scenic alongside while driving to that peak. Road is good up to Dattatreya peeta but from there road is not good that kuch to reach Manikyadhara falls as they are paving new concrete road. Also worth visit is Galikere from Dattatreya peeta but again road is not good as they are paving new road. Also Visit Sageer Ahmed Falls Or Dhabe Dhabe falls and Vannammana falls on the way to Dattatreya Peeta to enjoy water flow which is too cold.

1 star for water fall. It looks like an overhead water tanker leaking. But we can visit it for the view but most of the time view will be covered by clouds. People believe that this waterfall comes through some medicinal herbs and comes here to take a bath.the road that connects this fall from datta peetam is not that good,We have to hire a sharing jeep or can go on your car if your car has good ground clearance and you are confident enough to drive through a mud ghat road. We have to descend 50-60 steps to reach water fall. You can skip it if you don't have much time to cover this (you will miss some view on the way though).Better to carry Sweater, muffler and gloves because it was so windy and cold
