Ohh my! Heaven on Earth probably 🌍. Such a wonderful place and peaceful to the eyes. Just what your heart and soul longs for everyday in your life ❤️ 💚. Started to this place at 4:45am from Bellandur and reached around 6:20. The route was amazing 🤩 and not surprised that Bangalore roads had traffic even at this time 😅 The road that goes inside from Highway wasn't that good initially, but, as you near the place, you could sense that you're going to one of the best places in your life. You could see the mountains covered with mist from a distance and that gives you Goosebumps... Oh, yaaa 😂 there were many speed bumps here and there coz it's a village road. Not many shops you would see near the place. And few sharp curves that were steep in the hills, so I recommend new bikers to go carefully and in low gear. Just when you complete all the curves and reach the top, your jaws would drop seeing the place. Covered with mist, actually you'll be inside them. The fact is that, the temple entrance door, faces the direction of sunrise 🌄 The sun playing hide and seek with the help of those clouds was such a beautiful sight. And yeah, there were few monkeys, which didn't harm anyone , but, just be cautious. Take your own food or snack, as you won't find anything there. There were few steps going down the temple, I missed going there, but, it's a good place for clicking photos down there the steps. It would be nice if you reach early morning and wait till the temple opens and have a good Darshan, hear the history of place to add on top of your spine chilling moments in the hills. Have a...

The temple was build by the Chola dynasty and belived to have link with Markand Purana. Just 65kms from Bengaluru. One can park the car at the base and climb a hundred plus flight of stairs or take the car to the top of the hill. There is ample parking for atleast 20-25 cars. It is one of the place that is not crowded even in the weekend, I went on a Saturday and there were probably 5 cars and a few bikes. The hill temple offers a 360 deg magnificent view of the surrounding farmland and forrest. Main deity of the temple is Bhagwan Shiva worshipped as Markandeshwara. The temple houses many other sanctums within the inner perimeter. One can spend 90-120 mins exploring the hill and the temple. Even though there is no rush the surrounding is littered, an eyesore to the eyes, otherwise a beautiful location. My humble request, kindly do not litter, just carry a garbage bag, and carry back and dump...
Read moreAs part of kolar nature tour, from Bangalore, covering Avani Betta , Markendaya hills, Kaigal falls (best avoided by families), we had visited here on the independence day long weekend.it was drizzling that day and the weather was simply awesome to hold us back in bangalore. we took a break at Kamath's restaurant for breakfast and changed our plan to reach Markandeya hills first. Google maps was spot on, roads were in excellent condition mostly, till the point of starting climb to the hill. There are stairs at the base of the hill, if you want to use them instead. Couple of hair pin bends, no vehicles on that day except a bike and a taxi, so we had the complete place to ourselves. there are quite a few monkeys, so avoid keeping car windows wide open or carrying food. Unfortunately, the Temple did not open that day (opens 10-12), and we were there from 10.30-11. The views are messmerizing and there was so much of greenery due to rains. Very peaceful, pollution free and amazing place to visit if you are peace and...
