I visited this place in July 10th 2021. Drive towards this place was very pleasant. Easily would rate this as a peaceful gateway from city traffic and buzz. I would rate this highly as a very good family picnic spot. Very spacious parking space alloted for car parking and two wheeler parking. Well maintained government run hotel is in place so you need not pack your food of worry about it. But you have any preference of looking for a wholesome menu, you may not find out. As far as Dam is concerned, it is filled with water. More than dam it is a tank. Water tributary as such is linear and it had good pace. With good driveway towards this place to peaceful atmosphere inside forest, it can be a good spot in outskirts of Bangalore.
Negatives can be No Network as the place is bordering Karnataka and Tamil Nadu and hardly any coverage.
Don't carry food items / snacks around hastily, monkeys are around. Extremely naughty, they might cause ruckus. They might snatch it from you.
Littering issue. There are hardly any Dustbins around. You find wrappers and plastic waste all around.
Safety divider around water catchment area is not there. May be they are in process of...
Read moreThis is the correct location of "Muthayala Maduvu". There's a nice big pond on left side of the road. Right is Hotel Mayura entrance. Way for falls is inside this compound. Villagers collect ₹10-20 for entrance. Best visited early in the morning when there is no crowd. I went for a breakfast ride. Take right at Chandapura, pass through Iggalur, Marsur villages. That's the route having farm lands on both sides.
If you want to take bath in the falls or have high expectations, this is not the place for you. Come here only if you want to drive through greenery and hike to a small hill top. The view is good - landscapes of forest.
In hotel compound, you have to climb down the stairs. There are couple of view points set up. The falls will be disappointing. So skip it and take the trail that goes near temple. There are multiple trails all of which lead to top of hill. From below you can see fences on top of hill. That's the destination. After 20-30 minutes climb, you'll reach top. Not tough. Just follow the clear trails, you won't get lost. The dam, hotel and falls will always be in the vicinity. You'd be in Karnataka. The opposite hill you see...
Read moreParking ticket said "Muthyla Madugu & Resort & Waterfall" I was excited because there are some places to reach them road is not too good making the journey bit painful but the destination is so good that the painful journey was worth it? This was not it, shower head in my bathroom lets out more water than the stream they're calling waterfall. They've done so much construction around "waterfall" you'll feel that the fall is gonna be good since there's park and children play area as well as a hotel(resort as per parking ticket) built around it, they're asking 20rs for parking where so many good places are free, all this build up for barely a stream of water falling from not more than 14ft height(even this is a bit of exaggeration for this place). Sure there's a pond around for boating but you don't travel 40-50 km for boating that you can do anywhere within Bengaluru. There's a valley view but I've seen better, even the forest proclaimed by other reviews is so close to town the only wildlife here is monkeys which again can be found in outskirts of...
