This hilltop fort appears to be very beautiful from the town with so many security bastions and huge rampart wall. The fort is massive covering three independent hills having modern temple on one, flag hoisting on the central one and ruins of mosque and islamic structures on third hill. The central fort is interconnected to islamic fort and has massive ruins of so many security towers, damaged walls and no structures left except the flag hoisted part. The bird view of two big lakes at the base of the hills which are part of the town now is excellent from the fort and worth visiting on a hot and comfortable day. There are two beautiful rock cisterns covered with small green plants inside the water which is colourful and perfect for photography. The mosque structure is intact and other palaces are damaged with ruins of the islamic arch designs that can be...

Shahapur has 2 forts which are connected by a fortitification wall.

Once you reach a lord shiva temple, walk till a small hanuman temple which is little ahead of it.

A Well marked trail goes to the fort from near the temple

The eastern fort is much larger than the western one.

The only trail to eastern fort (left)goes through a small door which can seen to your left just before the mahadarwaja or main door

The trail to western fort (right) goes through the maha darwaja ot main door.

Just take a wellmarked trail to your right. After walking a small door which is painted in orange.. You will reach a small Hanuman Temple near a massive water tank..

It will take around 4 hrs max to explore both the forts.

Carry enough water, there isn't potable...
