Very interesting to watch the Lion in the wild. There where many healthy lions roaming around. Try to reach latest by 9Am. There was a very long line to book the Safari on the Sunday we went. The Zoo is also good and please don't miss it. We found some interesting birds there. There is a basic canteen to have some snacks and to have some soft drinks. There is a kids park there. The whole place was decently maintained with basic amenities. The Driver on our Safari bus was very cooperative and stoped in the right spots to let us click pictures. We travelled all the way from Chickmagalur to Shimoga to enjoy the safari. After reaching there we were told that safari is closed because of construction work. Though before starting from Chickmagalur we visited the site on internet where bno such information was given. The we planned to visit atleast the zoo. After coming to ticket counter we were told that tickets available only at the car park so again we went upto cark park, purchased the tickets from a person who was sitting on a chair benmeath a tree. Zoo was small and the animals were kept in pathetic conditions in the scorching heat. Felt very pitty on them. We wasted our time, energy and money visiting this place. Very poorly organised. Hope oraganiser will take a note of it that tourists come from abroad also and everyones time is precious. ASt least they should keep the tourists informed on the social net work and their official website.

My visit to Shimoga Wildlife Sanctuary exceeded expectations, offering a thrilling encounter with a variety of wildlife amidst lush greenery. Witnessing lions and tigers in their natural habitat was a highlight, showcasing the sanctuary's dedication to conservation through well-maintained. The sanctuary's biodiversity extends to reptiles, vibrant bird species, and even a surprising hippopotamus presence. Exploring the expansive sanctuary requires at least half a day, facilitated by well-marked trails and informative signages that enhance the overall experience. Immersing myself in nature, I found the sanctuary to be a haven for wildlife enthusiasts. The environmental education initiatives, including informative exhibits and passionate staff, underscored the sanctuary's commitment to conservation. With its serene atmosphere punctuated by exotic bird calls and rustling leaves, Shimoga Wildlife Sanctuary offers a peaceful retreat for both animals and visitors. It's a must-visit destination, providing respite from the daily grind. The sanctuary's diverse wildlife, well-maintained facilities, and dedication to conservation make it a hidden gem in nature's embrace.

Wow... What a experience. Although I have visited this so many times, never had this experience. Earlier, lions and tigers used to kept within a forest, we need to pay some amount other than entry fee and needed to see them. But now, They are kept within a zoo(Some animals are kept within a forest still, can visit by paying some amount, They'll take us, by bus). I saw a tiger from very less distance, I'm so thrilled. Also, saw a peacock from very less distance again, can't express the beauty of nature, especially color of peacock. I noticed one drawback, that each animal or bird kept withing a secure place and covered by a glass, which reflects the lights and can't able to see the animal properly. Earlier days there is any iron rods and boxes, something.. So we can easily notice the animal, but now can't able to see them properly. Entry fee for a person 80/- Kids (5-12yrs) 50/- Parking Bike 30/- Auto /Car 50/-

Excellent experience Tyavarekoppa Lion and Tiger Safari is located the state of Karnataka, India,[1] with an area of 250 hectares (2.5 km2), at a distance of about 10.0 km (6.2 mi) from Shimoga, and 275.0 km (170.9 mi) from Bangalore. Started in 1988, it is Karnataka's second safari park, after Bannerghatta National Park near Bangalore. Despite the name, the lion and tiger are neither the only animals here, nor are they the only big cats here. Asiatic lions, Bengal tigers and Indian leopards are kept in separate enclosures and they are viewed by a guided "safari" vehicle.[3]A relatively rare black panther was born here during 2012, and is available for public view as a caged animal.[4] In 2005, a tigress gave birth to cubs here.[5]On 2 March 2006, four tigers killed a casual laborer who fell down while repairing iron gates.[1] A tigress which strayed into nearby villages was captured and kept in this safari
