Kotilingeshwara Temple: A Sacred Site of Countless Shiv Lingas 1) The Temple's Significance with Over 90 Lakh Shiv Lingas Kotilingeshwara Temple, located in the village of Kammasandra, Kolar district, Karnataka, is renowned for its staggering number of Shiv Lingas. The temple houses over 9 million (90 lakh) Shiv Lingas, making it one of the largest collections of these sacred symbols of Lord Shiva in the world. The Lingas are of various sizes, ranging from small ones to towering structures, the tallest being around 108 feet. The temple has a spiritual atmosphere that draws thousands of devotees each year. This unique aspect of the temple makes it a major pilgrimage site for Lord Shiva's devotees. 2) A Place with Lord Brahma and Saraswati as Deities. What sets Kotilingeshwara Temple apart from many other Shiva temples is its inclusion of deities not typically worshipped alongside Shiva. Here, Lord Brahma, the creator of the universe, is worshipped. This is unique because Brahma rarely has temples dedicated solely to him due to his role in the cosmic order. At Kotilingeshwara, Brahma is venerated along with his consort Goddess Saraswati, the embodiment of knowledge, music, and arts. This combination of deities emphasizes the temple’s inclusive nature, recognizing not only the Destroyer (Shiva) but also the Creator (Brahma) and the goddess of wisdom and learning, Saraswati. The Tallest Nandi Statue: Besides the Shiv Lingas, the temple also features an enormous **Nandi statue**, standing around 35 feet tall. Nandi, the bull, is Lord Shiva's vahana (vehicle) and an essential figure in Shiva temples, representing devotion and strength. This grand statue adds to the temple's grandeur and significance.

I recently had the pleasure of visiting the Kotilingeshwara Temple, and the experience was truly spiritual and enriching. The sheer scale of the temple, with its millions of Shiva lingams, is awe-inspiring and provides a profound sense of peace and divinity. The temple grounds are well-maintained, clean, and organized, which significantly enhances the overall experience. The main lingam, standing at an impressive height, is a sight to behold and creates a powerful focal point for worship. The staff and volunteers were courteous and helpful, guiding visitors through the various parts of the temple with respect and patience. The facilities, including the restrooms and the parking area, were adequate and convenient for the large number of visitors. The spiritual ambiance of the temple is further amplified by the serene surroundings and the sound of devotional music playing softly in the background. It is a place where one can truly disconnect from the hustle and bustle of daily life and connect with a higher power.Overall, my visit to Kotilingeshwara Temple was a memorable and uplifting experience. I would highly recommend it to anyone seeking spiritual solace and a unique devotional experience

Visited this temple after a long time with family on a Sunday. The entry fee is 20/- per person. It was pretty crowded and the queue system is quite a mess. It is pretty difficult to pass through the long queues with a baby. There are many small temples inside and they have made the queue in such a way that you have to pass them all before you are able to see the big Shiva Linga. The priest inside one of the temples hardly gave people time to even pray or stand before the diety. He kept pushing them to move ahead. This place needs a better management system in place. It is quite difficult for senior citizens and young kids to walk around. However, the temples and the Shiva lingas are well maintained. I would recommend everyone to visit this place to see the Koti (Crore) Lingas, but would suggest you to visit on weekdays as opposed to weekends. Apart from this, there is plenty of parking space available here. However it is charged. You can keep your footwear at the stand before entering the temple and they charge 5/- per pair. A few handful small eateries are present outside the temple premises. Dress code : Indian wear for women and men.

Located within the narrow roads. Best to follow google maps and navigate. A little off road kind of village single roads. Be careful to plan the journey on rainy days and other alarming days. Ample amount of parking space. Good parking for a minimum charge of upto 50 INR. It has many sub temples within the main temple. The huge shiva linga can be seen only after the mandatory visit of the all other temples. The entire temple management felt very much commercial more than spiritual or devotional. The sanctity of the temple is not very much seen. This is the famous temple that comes in an old Kannada/Telugu bilingual movie of Manjunatha acted by Actors like Dr.Ambareesh and Megastar Chiranjeevi. Otherwise, it’s wonderful to see the huge and humongous shiva linga of 40-60 feet at-least and many other close to 1 crore shiva lingas of all sizes. You can shop near the shops available nearby. Restrooms are available, not very clean and tidy especially it could be difficult for woman. Aaradhya Grand is the nearest best hotel nearby 30-40 kilometres for pure veg food. Have a good journey. Good place for families and groups to visit.
