Papnash Temple Overview

Papnash Mahadev temple is a famous Hindu temple located in Bidar district of Karnataka state in India. The temple is dedicated to Lord Shiva and is believed to have been built during the Rashtrakuta period in the 9th century AD. So I will mention only about the facilities which devotees should be provided in any famous temple in a town. In that aspect, who ever manages the temple has a lot to work on. Thie is no toilet facility. And the entire surrounding is very dirty. There is a beautiful lake nearby, and never miss the view the and a walkabout whenever you are here. According to local legend, this temple and idol was installed by Lord Rama on his way back to Ayodhya from Lanka. The original temple was lost and at the ruins of the ancient temple, a new one was later built. This temple is located in a beautiful valley. There is a large pond at the foot of the temple which is constantly fed by a natural spring. This pond is known as Papnash.
