Here’s a refined review of Sri Anjaneya Swamy Temple in Shamanur (Davanagere):

🏛️ Overview & History

A venerable temple dedicated to Lord Hanuman (Anjaneya), its origins date back around 800 years, credited to the saint Vyasaraja Tirtha .

The original structure was replaced in 2000 with a beautifully crafted Dravidian-style temple, thanks to active involvement from local villagers and Davanagere devotees .

🔍 Architecture & Idol

The focal point is a six-foot-tall monolithic idol of Hanuman housed within a striking five-tiered rajagopura (temple tower) that also features a grand stucco image of the deity .

A lamp pillar (deepa sthamba) stands before the entrance, and the sanctum is complemented by a mandapa (pillared hall) .

🕰️ Timings & Practical Info

It’s located just alongside NH‑4 / NH‑48, about 4–5 km from central Davanagere—easily accessible by bus or auto .

🎉 Festivities & Spiritual Vibe

Saturdays are particularly vibrant, drawing large crowds for special pujas .

The annual Rathotsava (car festival) spans three days, beginning on the 10th day after Maha Shivaratri—a major highlight for devotees .

Set beside the Vrushabhavati river, the temple grounds exude peace, especially in the early morning or late evening .

What visitors appreciate:

The serene ambiance and spiritual energy, especially during sunrise or evenings.

Well-maintained premises, with positive reviews highlighting its “good ambience” and calling it a "special place for worshipping Anjaneya Swamy" .

The Sri Anjenaya Swamy temple is situated in Shamnur village near Davangere. Approximately 6km from SSIMSRC medical College Davangere. It's a very beautiful and serene place. Has a big Sri Anjenaya Swamy sculpture on the temple dome. I visited on a Saturday so there might have been a queue. Opposite to the temple is a equally beautiful Shiva temple with a big Shiva sculpture on the done. A divine place and worthy to visit.
