Travel from Hyderabad to Pavagada Sri Shanimahatma Temple
We started from Hyderabad to Pavagada around 11:30 AM, on Friday 19th Nov 2021 Took a small break near Kurnool Toll gate, you can have a Coffee in Idly cafe, which costs you 20Rs per coffee, but it will be super. Again started our journey, reached Pavagada by 6:00 PM. Just enquired a little after reaching there for Accommodation and Pooja which will very famous and happens on every Saturday. (My Astrologer advised to perform Sarva Seva in pavagada, so we started there) There is one shop Sri Ranganath, uncle(owner of the shop) told you can go with Devestanam Accomodation which will be very good, with little hesitation, we went and checked the Counter, its Not Crowded and we took AC room assuming that the atleast room will maintain neat, its 950Rs for AC Room and they will take refundable deposit of 450, total 1400 they will take initially and returns 450 while vacating room.(Aadhar is mandatory to take Room) Room is quite good met our expectations.(Didnt checked about Non AC Rooms, they are also available for 450rs and 600Rs, 2 different types of rooms), Hot water for bathing will be open from 3AM in Morning. There is free food which is served for all Devotees. We had free food only in night , they served Pulihora and kind of papula podi rice. For me it tastes good, not sure how the food will be outside. You can put your offerings in Hundi or also Nitya Annadanam. If you pay 2001Rs, on your name food will be severed per day i think.
Coming to Pooja: Serva Pooja - Navagrah Abhishekam.
People will start standing in queue by Early morning 3:00 or 3:30 AM itself and also they will allow few people from a different gate which is VIP (not sure about it, how to get VIP tickets and all) We reached queue at 4AM by the time we reached there are around 30 people in queue. Ticket Cost is 300Rs and they will start issuing tickets at 4:30AM by opening the queue. There is no advanced booking for Sarva Seva pooja. After entering Temple, a poojari\pantul will do sankalpam, and ask us to sit in Room opp to Navagrah mandapam, if you are lucky you will get a seat near the gate of Navagrah mandapam. There will be multiple rooms in which TV's will be there where we can see the Live pooja. That's why try to go early to get a seat where you can see the Pooja directly instead of watching it in TV. (During special days, all the rooms will be filled, those many people will come to darshanam and serva pooja)
While going to pooja, they will not take anything, after pooja is completed, while returning, they will put boxes, where you need to drop all things what you take . We were advised by uncle not to take anything, just take 2 coconuts, but we took a pooja set they charged 200 per set, but nothing will be taken by any poojari.
While pooja is going on, once a poojari will put abhishekam water and after thailabhishekam, they will pass that oil which is collected and all devotees has to put on heads. Also they will pass one silver gadha, you need touch your shoulders and head.
Once the pooja is completed, they will send all people for darshanam and you need to leave temple. After exiting, next to exit gate, they will break coconut and give water as Theertham.
After reaching room, we had bath again and left the cloths what we wore to Temple (even thread(Malthadu) that we tied to waist) for gents. Its advised, to leave the cloths there itself after bath, so we left, its up to you.
Over all, you can go with Samsthanam Accomodation, dont take any thing as pooja set, take only 2 Coconuts and Ticket for pooja .
Hope this is helpful for one who goes to Pavagada for Sarvaseva pooja to get rid of any Shani dosham or for the blessings of...
Read moreShani or Shanishwara is one of the nine planets in Hindu astrology. Shanishwara is an embodiment of Saturn. He is the son of Suryadeva and his second wife Chaya Devi. He is one of the most feared and revered astrological deities. It is a temple dedicated to Lord Shanishwara, one of the planets in Hindu Astrology.
The Shani Mahatma temple located at Chikka Madhure, was constructed by Ganga Hanumaiah, a local farmer. It is believed tha, t one can get rid of or lessen the negative effects of Sade sathi (seven and a half years effect) or Ashtama Shani or Panchama Shani on worshipping or by offering special poojas to Shri Shaneshwara temple at Chikka Madhure.
In support of this, one can see lot of people offering Ellu Batti to the fireplace right in front of the temple. 'Ellu Batti' means black sesame seeds are put into small pieces of cloth and are tied with black thread and this is dipped in Gingelly oil (sesame oil). This offering is believed to please Lord Shanishwara.
The idol of Shani Mahatma is dark in colour, heavily adorned with jewellery and clothed in black. Though open on all days, the temple attracts devotees in huge numbers on Saturdays, the special day dedicated to Shani Mahatma. A chariot procession of Shani Mahatma during the annual festival, would be the right time to visit the temple with the whole family.
It is believed that by praying and offering poojas at Shri Shani Mahatma temple, one can lessen the negative effects of the planet in life. He is a strict Deva who esures the punishment he has been ordained to give with severity. Yet, he also blesses with generosity. Shanishwara’s negative influence on one’s natal chart, is one of the most feared beliefs in India. People flock to temples to worship Shanishwara, in order to lessen the ill effects of his influence. There are many temples for Shanishwara, one of the most famous being the temple at Thirunallar in Tamilnadu. The Shri Shanimahathma temple at Chikka Madure is considered to be one of the oldest. This temple is located on the banks of Madhure Kere, a big lake. This temple is constructed in the South Indian style, with a Gopura (tower).
The annual festivals in which an...
Read moreThe Shanimahatma Temple and Sheetalambika Devi Temple are the same place, so you can search for either name on Google Maps for directions. This is a well-known pilgrimage spot, especially for rituals like Mangalya Pooja and Tailabhishekam, which are performed daily. The temple is located in the heart of the city and tends to get quite crowded on Saturdays.
Ritual details & cost: Tailabhishekam costs ₹100 for two people, while Mangalya Pooja is ₹100 per person. The offerings go to the temple trust.
Experience inside: The temple atmosphere is peaceful and filled with positive energy.
Parking: There are no designated parking slots, so visitors usually park on the streets nearby.
Areas for improvement: The trust could improve queue management, crowd control, and cleanliness in and around the premises. Facilities like toilets, parking, and seating arrangements would be very helpful, especially since many devotees travel long distances and may need a place to rest.
Food options: We didn’t find many good eateries nearby, so it’s better to carry some food with you. The highways have better food options, and if you pack your own, there are scenic spots outside the city where you can enjoy a meal amidst nature.
Overall, it’s a spiritually fulfilling place to visit. With a little preparation—especially for parking, food, and managing the crowd—you’ll have a smoother and more...
