Thathayya Cave (Gavi), Kaiwara

Enchanting and peaceful, Thathayya Cave (Gavi) in Kaiwara is more than just a temple; it's a spiritual haven nestled amidst breathtaking nature. Located about 2.5 km from Kaiwara and 67 km from Bengaluru, it's a must-visit for anyone seeking serenity and scenic beauty.

Highlights:

Historical Significance: The cave where saint Thathayya attained enlightenment imbues the place with a palpable spiritual energy.

Two Temples in One: Sri Vishnu Temple at the ground level and Thathayya Cave temple on top offer a unique experience.

Panoramic Views: From the top, the entire temple complex and lush landscapes unfold like a mesmerizing painting.

Cleanliness and Peace: The well-maintained temple exudes a sense of calm, perfect for reflection and meditation.

Additional Tips:

Bring your own food and water: Limited options are available nearby.

Carry offerings: Shop near the temple sells coconuts, incense, and flowers.

Respect the environment: Avoid littering and keep the natural beauty pristine.

Overall: Thathayya Cave is an ideal destination for a day trip from Bengaluru. The combination of historical significance, scenic beauty, and peaceful atmosphere makes it a truly enriching experience. Just remember to be a responsible visitor and keep this spiritual oasis...

One of the best places I've visited.

A temple of amara nareyana is at the bottom of the hill.

Around mid hill, there is one more temple complex which is the place where sage kaiwara tattayya achieved Devine enlightenment. Temple consists of cave like chamber, where sage kaiwara tattayya used to meditate, and a yagashaala for performing Devine rituals.

Midhill temple can be accessable by climbing around 100 stairs. Lots of beautiful idols of famous spiritual personalities are installed along the staircase.

There is also a road till the shrine, elderly or those who can't climb the stairs can reach the place by vehicle.

Vehicles can be easily parked on the road...

Thatayya Cave, believed to be the place where the 18th century saint Kaiwara Narayana Thatha meditated and the cave temple of Yoga Narasimha.

It's on the way to kailasagiri hill. The architecture and view, will automatically stops us during the ride.

The silence and tranquility of the place were absolutely amazing. The adjacent hall took me by surprise with colourfully patterned Chettinad tiles. Among other deities, the statue of Thatayya on a meditating pose looked eminent. The elevated hillock proffered beautiful vistas of the landscape around with verdant hills in the backdrop. An ideal place to sit peacefully or meditate...
