Thokur is derived from the Sanskrit word- Thoka (which means boy) and they say it’s the boy (infant Shree Subramanya swami’s) Uru(Village). As legends say that the Raja selected Thokur village to build the temple because of its scenic beauty and evergreen surroundings.  Also the second reason was, the water in the wells of Thokur village never dries up.

This Temple was built by a Jain King 800 years ago, in fulfillment of his wish forheir to look after his kingdom. The king was blessed with a boy and as promised he built the temple, made Prathista of Shree Subramanya moorthi in Thokur village.

In 2023 temple had bhramakalasa. It is famous for its Thogari bele payasa which happens only on Tuesday. Temple has a very beautiful architecture crafted in wodden. One of the very...
