On the right side of the dam, the tall Sanduru hill ranges extending up to 800 m MSL are close to the periphery of the Tungabhadra reservoir. These hill ranges form the Sanduru valley located above 600 m MSL. This reservoir is an ideal place to install pumped storage hydropower plants and lift irrigation projects. A moderate high level storage reservoir of capacity 20 tmcft at FRL 620 m MSL, can be constructed by damming the Sanduru valley. This reservoir will serve as upper pond and existing Tungabhadra reservoir as tail pond for installing pumped-storage hydroelectricity units. The water pumped during the monsoon months into the upper pond can be diverted by gravity to irrigate an extensive area in the uplands up to 600 m MSL in Rayalaseema and Karnataka. This water can be pumped further to meet the drinking water requirements of Bengaluru city.[citation needed] However, the available water resources at Tungabhadra dam are over-used, and water shortages are frequent. Water availability in the reservoir could be augmented by transferring water from the Krishna River, if a link canal were constructed from the Almatti reservoir to the Tungabhadra reservoir. We were in Kamlapur(For our visit to Hampi), Tungabhadra dam is around 16-18kms. It is very nice place to visit. Though we visited it in the morning, I would recommend others to visit in evening because it has fountain show. You have to get down and park your vehicle at the basement. From Basement either you can walk to the top where they have a watch tower or you can take their bus. Water tower is closed but standing under the watch tower gives you good view of the dam and the gates of dam. Bus ticket for to and fro is Rs. 20/- and it has good frequency of it. Apart from this view they have few other places to visit, additional Rs. 20/- is the ticket charges for it. This includes Aquarium, Zoo and the park. Zoo is a mini zoo which had Peahen/peacock, deer, black bucks and rabbits. There are few other attractions alike 9D show, etc. They charge Rs. 50/- per person. Main thing is they have good and well maintained public toilets.

Hello All... I Can Say The Must Visited Place In Hospet Was Tungabhadra Dam.. It Was One Of The Best Tourist Attractions And Peace Of Mind Place... In 2009 When I Visisted With My School People Its Was Good, But It Was Developed Much Better Than That... in 2022. 1st Entrance Ticket Was 10rs, Next To Go Top Of Hill There Is Bus Provision Also, per head 20rs ticket we Need to take It Seperately(Keep That ticket Safely until you exit from gate)... Next Ticket for Acquarium Hall.. Thats It No.. other charges For Fountain Water (which starts at 7.15Pm), In Park. The Location from Hill point i.e., tower was Splendid, we can see entire city view as i shared some pictures you can see... From Tower You Can Come down by Bus(if ticket was shown only) Till middle And you can enjoy A very huge Park surroundings By A tough and peaceful walk between fresh plants.... Finally our Day was ended with Fountain show 7.15-7.45 like That... Thankyou..
