Ankola has some magnificent beaches and according to me Keni tops. It's located about 5 kms from Ankola town. I managed to drive to the beach early morning recently and was welcomed by the disaster of Swatchcha Bharat mission! The beach has a main attraction of an ancient Lord Shiva temple located at the foot of a hillock. Path to this temple has been made by using rocks on which one has to tread very carefully. I did so on this beautiful morning, and was welcomed by an awesome sight of the entire Keni beach, the adjoining Bela beach. The beach itself looks to be divided into three portions - one with the temple, the other on the right there of and the left side being a fishing one. I took good time to see the first two but missed on the third one due to time constraints.
One should definitely visit this beautiful place. The previous evening I was atop The adjoining hill from where the temple and the fishing part of the beach was visible beautifully, as also the Bela beach down below. A rivulet separates Bela and Keni twins and I gather from locals that this rivulet subsides only after 4pm to let people cross over from Bela to Keni...
