The place is good. But the facilities are insufficient. I have prebooked for my friends and family of 13 persons. The entry is restricted to, I think 300 persons per day. But there was more than 500 persons in attendance. I have the following suggestions for improving the place and make it a best bet for visitors. At this rate, one will think twice to reccoment this place. Suggestions. Increase the capacity of the dining area. The Kudumbasree sisters are doing a tremendous job to cater the visitors. But there is hardly any space to accomodate the number of visitors per day. We had to wait for more than 2 hours to have our lunch. The food is tasty, especially the fish curry and fry. But the quantity of dishes is insufficient to finish your lunch.(Dont know its due to the rush on that particular day. But even then, the catering team gets a correct number of registration much earlier and they can prepare food accordingly. I think this is the most important thing they should improve. Because, most of the visitors come with famiies and I have seen kids crying for food. Start a snack BAR at the entrance or at the Watch Towers so that people can refresh themselves in between. The biggest handicap now is that the only things available other than lunch is Ice cream and Mineral water. Arrange more pedal boats. Now they have only 3 or 4. Its not at all sufficient for 300 people. Because once you take off to the lake, it will take at least one hour to return. Arrange more speed boats for taking visitors for a cruise. This will give them a fuller view of the farm. Make the fishing experience more efficient by providing fishing rods with lengthy twines. The rent you charge is also high. Provide fishing rods at Rs.10/- with sufficient lenth of twine as no one gets any fish from the banks...
Read moreIt's a great and serene place to hangout for a day, away from the hustle and bustle of the city. Morning ticket price includes entry pass, lunch meal, ice cream and pedal boating pass. Morning ticket is valid till 6:00 pm. Evening ticket is also available at a reduced rate than morning ticket starting from 3:00 pm.
From the entrance a short walk between coconut trees and placid lakes on either side of the path, you'll reach guest's resting places and a restaurant which serves Kerala meals. If you need any special dishes please order about 1/2 an hour ahead of your meal, so the dishes are ready at meal time.
After the meal you can take a walk or enjoy the scenery and cool breeze in a hammock, while kids can play or try fishing (at extra price). The catch could be bought if you like. You can then do pedal boating with friends and family.
In the evening you can enjoy a cup of tea/coffee with delicious Kerala snacks.
From about 5:30pm the sun starts setting and if the sky is clear you'll be experiencing one of the most picturesque sunsets that you'll ever witness! Both the skies at the front and back of the farm will be lit up with breathtaking colours and the tranquil waters reflect the skies as if they are large natural mirrors...the whole scene looks like a watercolor...
Read moreI had a great expectation after reading the reviews about this place , but was totally disappointed. It is a very unhygienic place, the tables are cleaned with a piece of cloth which was dripping water here and there. The bathrooms were smelling and not clean. Even in the rush hour two of the bathrooms were locked and only one bathroom was opened for the visitors. Noticed the same people are serving food immediately after cleaning a table. Cheap food- charged INR 300 on a Saturday, and food served had a fish curry with small piece of cheap Poomean (a sort of milk fish) and a tiny piece of tilapia fry. The rice and sambar did not reach any standard for a restaurant charging 300 rupees for a meal. The side dish served as Porial or dry curry was hardly visible in the side of the plate. Asked about the boating and was sort of discouraged saying the time is not appropriate and it is too hot for it in the afternoon. Whereas they were interested for providing a boating with 250 Rupees/person extra payment. There was not adequate parking in this place and one has to walk nearly 300-400 meters to reach the restaurant. Overall a very...
