The Janaki forest is for one who want a forest walk experience. A peaceful place to walk and view the gaint trees, nearby there is a river entry to which is restricted. But one can enjoy the scenery there. There is entry fees at the entrance, no specific parking place. At the end of the forest there is temple, one can visit there also. Guards will be there inside the forest. Toilet facility is available . At the opposite of the park there is small tea stall and resort also.

Really nice road until the forest with incredible butterfly diversity. The forest itself was a bit underwhelming because of the weather getting cloudy by the time we got there. Staff were friendly and accommodating. No restaurants immediately nearby. Although water and basic refreshments are available.

Located just 7 kilometers from Kuttiyadi, Janakikad lies in the heart of the Kuttiyadi range of the Kozhikode forest division. This enchanting 131-hectare expanse derives its name from V. K. Krishna Menon’s sister, V. K. Janaki Amma, to whom the land originally belonged.

The Janakikad Ecotourism project is a true haven for nature enthusiasts, offering a unique and immersive experience in the heart of untouched wilderness. The journey begins at a distinctive ticket counter designed to resemble termite mounds, setting the tone for the natural marvels that await. The entrance gates, adorned with artistic animal figures, welcome you into this verdant paradise.

Janakikad is a treasure trove of biodiversity, where every path reveals a new aspect of its rich flora and fauna. As you meander through the forest, you'll be surrounded by a lush canopy, perfect for a peaceful leafy stroll. The forest is a vibrant tapestry of plant life and is home to an array of bird species, including the striking Hornbills and the elusive Gray Jungle Fowl. Butterfly enthusiasts will also find plenty to admire, with numerous butterfly species fluttering through the undergrowth.

For a truly immersive experience, bird watchers can observe avian life from specially designed tree-top houses, offering panoramic views of the forest canopy. The ecotourism project also features rafting facilities, adding an adventurous twist to your visit.

A refreshing dip in the Chavaramuzhi River, a serene tributary of the Kuttiyadi, is a delightful way to cool off. This river gently caresses the edges of Janakikad, providing a tranquil spot for relaxation.

Additionally, the ancient temple nestled within the forest adds a touch of historical allure to the adventure. The trek through Janakikad, with its dense foliage shielding you from the summer sun, offers an invigorating journey through raw, unspoiled nature. This destination promises a captivating blend of adventure, tranquility, and natural beauty, making it an unforgettable experience for...

Nestled in the serene Maruthonkara region of Vadakara, Kerala, Janaki Forest is a nature lover's paradise. This lush, evergreen forest offers a tranquil escape from the hustle and bustle of city life. With its dense foliage, meandering river, and picturesque landscapes, Janaki Forest is the perfect destination for those seeking peace and rejuvenation.

One of the highlights of Janaki Forest is the scenic view of the Kuttyadi River, where visitors can relax and take a refreshing dip in the crystal-clear waters. The forest is also home to a diverse range of flora and fauna, making it an ideal spot for birdwatching and nature photography.

The forest trails are well-maintained and offer a pleasant hiking experience, allowing visitors to immerse themselves in the beauty of the tropical rainforest. The absence of commercial establishments like resorts and restaurants ensures that the natural charm of the forest remains intact. However, it's advisable to carry your own snacks, food, and water, as there are no facilities available within the forest.

Janaki Forest is a must-visit destination for anyone looking to connect with nature and experience the serene beauty of Kerala. Whether you're a solo traveler, a couple, or a family, this hidden gem promises a memorable and...

A scenic place with paddy fields surrounds the bridge before the gravel filled road to the forest if you're coming from Kuttiadi side.

There is a ticket counter, and you'll need a valid photo ID proof for entry; remember to carry that.

The people at the entrance warns NOT to enter the river; but can see an old, deteriorated and locked dressing room, and warning signs about a whirlpool for the swimmers. Also the obvious entrance with steps to the river is locked. Not sure what to make out of that. Could hear few people from the river; it was kind of deserted when we visited. Didn't venture into the river, since was not planning for that anyway.

It's possible to walk several kilometers and still find some way ahead without much obstructions. Also there's more than one clear path to walk after where the paved pathways end.

You'd find huge old trees, and big creepers growing on them, along with varieties of mushrooms and algaes.

We found atleast three clear water streams leading to the river, parallel to each other, few hundred meters apart.

It's very quiet, except for the repeating sounds of birds, mostly the kingfishers. But it was hard to find any birds in the view. Haven't seen any monkeys. Only animal to come across was a domestic cat.

Beautiful place nevertheless, worth a visit with...
