One of the best place near Palai to spend time with family and friends. This place have good spots for photography and chilling. Also have a good view of sunrise.
Kavalipuzha Beach is a hidden riverside gem along the Meenachil River near Kidangoor, Kottayam. This mini beach formed after the 2018 floods, which shifted the riverβs flow and left behind a sandy stretch, creating a peaceful escape with crystal-clear water and a unique riverside experience. The place is calm and scenic, ideal for a relaxing walk, a quiet swim, or a family outing. Swings are available for kids, and thereβs a nice open space for them to run around.
Accessing the beach requires a drive along a narrow road, so honking is essential to navigate safely. You might wonder if itβs worth the drive, but the destination truly feels like paradise once you arrive. Paid parking is available right near the beach, and you can also find a small "thattukada" food stall serving simple refreshments like black coffee and bread omelets. and they are friendly and welcoming.
The beach area offers benches to sit and relax, and if youβre interested in birdwatching, you might spot a variety of local birds. Locals also provide country boat rides across the river , adding to the experience. Thereβs no entry fee, and an additional snack stall near the parking area sells items like ice cream, lime juice, and packaged snacksβperfect for a refreshing treat after your swim or stroll.
If youβre visiting for the first time, I recommend using Google Maps for directions, as the roads can be confusing. Weekdays or evenings after 3 PM are the best times to visit, as it can get quite crowded on weekends and public holidays. Overall, Kavalipuzha Beach is a beautiful spot for a family outing, a bit of relaxation, or some alone time by the riverside. While the road to reach it could use improvement and the beach needs a bit of cleaning, itβs still well worth the trip for a...

Can walk on the sands , enjoy the river and also take a boat ride on the traditional Kerala boat(thoni/vanchi) .it's beautiful. slight turn off was the place is kinda dirtied after the recent floods otherwise it's just serene ,no crowd , peace , lot of trees..Reminded me of my childhood days....
EDITING after a revisit one year later . They have destroyed the aesthetic beauty of the place by painting the tree trunks in white and red also lot of plastic waste can be seen strewn around thanks to our great people . One good thing is a cctv camera but other than that big π that includes planting some plants that are not at all suiting to the natural look of the place. What was the need for all this I wonder it was a beautiful place 'naturally' !!! It now looks like another of those...
Β Β Β Read moreFrom G. Maps only i found out the place. Its a calm and silent river side running a short distance of sand bank. From the 2018 flood onwards, this Riverside assumed its new role as spot of tourist spot. ππ Mr. Roy, a resident of the place together with a few others took some initiative to make this place more visitor friendly, arranging the seating and cleaning the place. He said that visitors stay up to 9 pm also, now we have the street lights installed by local authorities. There is a proposal a small bridge connecting both the shores, though there is a ferry available now. Soon the spot will be in the limelight.
Such initiatives should come up in all such beautiful spots for the integral development of tourism...
