At a distance of 42 Kms from Kozhikode, Kolavipalam Beach is situated at Kolavipalam between Vatakara & Payyoli. Located to the south of Murad River, this beach is known as Turtle Beach. It is the closest beach to Bangalore City at a distance of 312 km.

The turtles found in the beach are the famous Olive Ridley turtles. The best season to find turtles is September. The great stretch of coconut groves along the beach enhances the charm of the beach. This place is close to Vadakara on NH17 towards Mangalore. It is connected by frequent buses with Kozhikode. Small beach area north of Calicut that is relaxing and has a Olive Ridley Turtle conservation centre that really should be visited.

Kolavipalam beach also known as the 'Turtle Beach' is located south of the Murad River about 30km north of Calicut. The turtles that frequent the beach are no ordinary turtle; these are the famous Olive Ridley turtles (Lepidochelys olivacea) which are endangered by sand mining etc.

The turtle season is in September when you can see the turtles visiting the beach searching for places to lay and hatch eggs. Turtles return to the same place to lay their eggs, so the frequent changes to topography leaves them very confused.

You can visit the conservation hatchery and see the baby turtles before they are...

Kolavippalam Beach, also known as Turtle Beach, is a serene and pristine destination located in the Kozhikode district of Kerala. This beach stands out not only for its natural beauty but also for its ecological significance, as it is a nesting ground for the endangered Olive Ridley turtles.

The beach is less crowded compared to other tourist spots, making it an ideal place for those seeking peace and tranquility. The golden sands, gentle waves, and lush green surroundings create a picturesque setting perfect for relaxation or a leisurely stroll along the shoreline. The sound of the waves and the cool breeze make the experience even more soothing.

One of the most unique aspects of Kolavippalam is the turtle conservation initiative led by the local community. If you visit during the nesting season, you might witness baby turtles hatching and making their way to the sea, a truly heartwarming sight. This effort highlights the harmonious coexistence of humans and nature in this region.

While the beach lacks commercial establishments, its untouched charm is what makes it special. It's advisable to carry your own food and water, as there are limited facilities nearby.

Overall, Kolavippalam Beach is a hidden gem, perfect for nature enthusiasts, conservation supporters, and anyone looking for a peaceful escape. Its unique combination of natural beauty and environmental importance makes it a must-visit spot in Kerala. Highly recommended for a serene and...

Superb place for sunset. Best place to spend time with your friends, family and loved one's. Best time to visit is after 4 pm. The way to the beach also awesome. The ride through the side of beach is memorable. Must visit beach in kozhikode district. Thikkodi beach is just 8 km away from here. So you can visit both places in one stretch. This beach is situated 5km away from payyoli bus station. Prefer bike or car to reach this place. The roads are narrow so ride slowly and safely. Everyone should visit atleat once.
