മലബാറിലെ തിരൂരങ്ങാടിയിലെ നമ്പിടിപ്പറമ്പ് തറവാട്ടില് 1935 ജൂലൈ ഏഴിന് കുഞ്ഞിമുഹമ്മദ് ഖദീജ ദമ്പതികളുടെ മകനായി,ശൈഖുനാ കുണ്ടൂര് അബ്ദുല് ഖാദിര് മുസ്ലിയാര് ജനിച്ചു. 1400 വര്ഷങ്ങളോളം പഴക്കമുളള മാലിക്ബ്നു ദീനാറിന്റെ കൂടെയുളളവരിലേക്ക് ചെന്നെത്തുന്ന കുടുംബമാണ് പിതാവിന്റെത്. ഇളം പ്രായത്തില് തന്നെ വലിയ ഭക്തിയിലും സൂക്ഷമതയും നിറഞ്ഞ ജീവിതം നയിച്ചു. കളി തമാശകളില് ഏര്പ്പെടാതെയും അനാവശ്യങ്ങളില് തലരിയിടാതെയും ചിട്ടയോടും തഖ്വയോടും കൂടിയ മാതൃകാ ജീവിതമായിരുന്നു ശൈഖുനയുടേത്.
സ്വന്തം പിതാവില് നിന്നാണ് അറിവിന്റെ ആദ്യാക്ഷരങ്ങള് നുകര്ന്നത്. ഇപ്പോഴത്തെ ഈസ്റ്റ് ബസാറില് അഹ്മദ് മൊല്ലയുടെ ഓത്തുപളളിയിലായിരുന്നു ആദ്യപഠനം. വലിയ പണ്ഡിതനായിരുന്ന കെ എം എസ് എ പൂക്കോയ തങ്ങളുടെ ദര്സില് ചേര്ന്ന് ദര്സീ ജീവിതത്തന് തുടക്കം കുറിച്ചു. പിന്നീട് കരിങ്ങനാട് മുഹമ്മദ് മുസ് ലിയാര്, ഇരിങ്ങല്ലൂര് അലവി മുസ് ലിയാര്, മുഹമ്മദ് കോയ തങ്ങള് തിരുവേഗപ്പുറ, കരിങ്കപ്പാറ മുഹമ്മദ് മുസ് ലിയാര് തുടങ്ങിയ പ്രമുഖരായ പണ്ഡിതരുടെ ദര്സുകളില് പഠിച്ചു. 1965 ല് വെല്ലൂര് ബാഖിയാത്തിലെത്തില് ഉപരി പഠനം നേടി ബാഖവി ബിരുദധാരിയായി.
ഹിജ്റ 1380 റബീഉല് അവ്വല് 19ന് വിവാഹം നടന്നു. ഫാത്തിമക്കുട്ടിയാണ് ഭാര്യ. ഈ ദാമ്പത്യ ബന്ധത്തില് 9 സന്താനങ്ങള് പിറന്നു.
ത്വരീഖത്തിന്റെയും സജീവ ആത്മീയതയുടെയും വഴികളിലൂടെ കുണ്ടൂരുസ്താദിനെ നയിച്ചത് ചാപ്പനങ്ങാടി ബാപ്പു മുസ് ലിയാരായിരുന്നു. കരിങ്കപ്പാറ മുഹമ്മദ് മുസ് ലിയാരാണ് കുണ്ടൂരുസ്താദിനെ ബാപ്പു മുസ് ലിയാരുമായി പരിചയപ്പെടുത്തിയത്.
തികഞ്ഞ ആശിഖു റസൂലായിരുന്ന കുണ്ടൂര് ഉസ്താദ് തിരുനബി സ്നേഹം മുഖ്യ പ്രമേയമാക്കി നിരവധി രചനകള് നടത്തി. സൗദിയിലെ പ്രമുഖ പണ്ഡിതനും സൂഫിവര്യനും ഒട്ടനേകം ഗ്രന്ഥങ്ങളുടെ കര്ത്താവുമായ സയ്യിദ് അലവി മാലികിയുമായി ഉസ്താദ് നല്ല ബന്ധം കാത്തു സൂക്ഷിച്ചിരുന്നു. മാലികി കേരളത്തിലെത്തിയപ്പോള് മമ്പുറത്തെ സ്ഥാപനത്തില് വെച്ച് സ്വീകരണം നല്കി.
