Wow the perfect morning. Wish i can visit here every morning. So this place is near Kamblakkad in wayanad. Kamblakkad is situated in kalpetta mananthawady highway. So u have to talke a diversion from there and another 7-8 kms , u are at the base of the hill.

So there are 2 moutains there..both has different roads just half a km before the base. So ive visited the better one i believe...not the kurishu mala. This one is more wider at the top and hasa better view.

So after reaching at the base..u can park your vehicle paying aome nominal fee... 40 rs for a car... and then theres a 1 km trek upwards... For those of u, who havnt been into climbing and walking much , this can be li'l tiring...but trust me the view at the top is worth it.

So start early...make sure u are at the base parking by 4:30 or latest 5 am. Then u can start trekking and reach at the top within half an hr- 45 mins. The path is well maintained...plained well with mud...but some steep and rocky climbs in between.. Once u reach there take some rest and the sunrise will be there for u in another few moments.

At the top its all foggy...and you can literally see clouds at ur height. Sun rises behind the clouds with the perfect mild light... Not very cold... There are local vendors selling water bottles tea ,cofee , bread omlette at the top. And i would suggest you to have it. The taste of the bread and egg after all.the hardwork of way uphill is worth it. You can easily stay there for 2 hrs and have the best photos for ur social media handles.

Pls note theres no restrictions there, as it is not managed by govt...so ur safety is in ur own hands. And you can camp and stay there overnight also..there are tents available on rent at...

Kurumbal Kotta Mala is an absolute must-visit for anyone traveling to Wayanad, especially for adventure seekers and nature lovers. My recent visit with my wife and 2-year-old child was nothing short of mesmerizing. The highlight of this place is undoubtedly the stunning sunrise, which is an unforgettable sight. To fully enjoy this experience, it’s essential to reach the top by 6 AM.

The trek to the top is an adventurous and enjoyable journey, but if you are traveling with small children or want to avoid the trek, there is a jeep service available. The jeeps will drop you off close to the viewpoint for a reasonable charge of around Rs. 600-700, making it accessible for everyone.

There are only 2-3 small shops at the top that sell essentials like bread omelette, Maggi, tea, and coffee. These shops are true lifesavers for visitors as there are no other facilities available on the hill. Make sure to carry sufficient water for the trek as there are no shops along the way. For those starting early in the morning (around 5 AM), carrying a torchlight is essential because the area is pitch dark with no lighting.

My overall experience at Kurumbal Kotta Mala was incredible. The views, the serene atmosphere, and the adventure made it a memorable trip. A few tips: go lightweight with minimal luggage, carry water and snacks, and ensure you have a torchlight if you’re arriving before sunrise.

This is a place that everyone visiting Wayanad should experience. Whether you trek or take the jeep, the journey and the breathtaking sunrise will leave you in awe. Highly...

I had the pleasure of visiting Kurumbalakkotta Mala in Kerala, a hilltop that promises a sunrise above the clouds. The journey to this serene destination offers a choice between a calming trek and a convenient jeep ride. For Rs. 600, the jeep can transport up to 7 people up and down the hill. The main attraction is the sunrise, occurring between 6 am to 8 am, creating a breathtaking spectacle as the sun emerges amidst the clouds. Unfortunately, on the day of my visit, dense clouds delayed the sunrise until 8:30 am, which is unusual. Despite missing the sunrise, the natural beauty of the area with its lush forest was mesmerizing. The diverse flora and fauna added to the enchantment. In summary, Kurumbalakkotta Mala offers a unique blend of adventure and nature, with the chance to witness a sunrise above the clouds. Whether you choose to trek or take the jeep, the experience is calming and the surroundings are stunning, making it a memorable trip, even if the sunrise is a bit elusive.
